Here is the reason/multiple reasons why the sequel was discontinued.
You can all thank the people in the comments who were saying things like,

I haven't seen The Last Airbender in SEVEN YEARS! I've never even re-watched it! The idea just came into mind that she could be a unique character!

She's powerful, but do you know HOW MANY FUCKING THINGS ARE WRONG WITH HER LIFE?!
Her dad is a FUCKING MURDERER WITH NO REMORSE! Her mom LIED TO HER ABOUT HER BIRTHRIGHT!
And do you know how many times she's passed out by getting hit with a gun?!
Cuz any other fanfic I've read, they survive a FUCKING APOCALYPSE MIXED WITH 774755677 TORNADOES!
Not ALL fanfics, but many are like that.
So yeah! I will no longer take interest in writing anymore Voltron fanfics thanks to the people who can't recognize when an accidental mistake has been done.
