I told that girl that going to the church was a bad idea.
But noooooo. Let's not listen to the dragon. I came out when called and let the weird priest cast her nonsense on me. Then she was sapping my energy and became a huge ugly monster from the fourth layer of hell. The lady tore at my friend, and I found enough energy to shield her with my hand. She was going to lose her life to save mine. I wanted to return the favor. When she was safe, the beast tore at my left leg. She hurt me, scraping my leg scales apart and tearing me into pieces. Then Kalie cast her mumbo-jumbo and the demon melted back to its home. She sobbed, thinking I was going to die because I shut my eyes. Jeez. I opened my eye and smiled to prove I would live, and she cried herself to sleep. As she slept, I got up, limping, and set her safely on my back, taking flight painfully. I managed to land back in my cave before sleeping.
I woke up after having no dreams.
Kalie was still sleeping. I went over to her and smiled upon her, wincing as I put my weight on my bad leg. I focused. Everybody had a little magic. Kalie could get godly aid. I could heal minor wounds. Like my leg. I chanted, and my leg felt better. I flew outside. Aha! A huge buck. I could see the soft, glinting fur from ten feet away. I struck it in the gut with a claw, and it died. I carried it back to my friend. I skinned it, covering her with the furry blanket, ate all but the head and some steak, and put the head on the wall next to the other one. I started to dig a bigger hole for the blood when she woke.
"Huh? What? Where are we?" She asked. Then she saw me. I faced her with a smile. "Mitch! You're alright!" She ran over and launched herself at me in hug form. I hugged back awkwardly. I wasn't used to this kind of affection. "How did you live?" I put my leg up, showing the scar, and grinned. "You nifty dragon, you!" She hugged me tighter. I glanced outside to see the sun high up. Around three-thirty, if I might guess. She let me go. "So, the spell didn't make you human, did it?" I shook my head. She hung hers. "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't know..." She started, but I put a claw to her lips in a shushing gesture. She understood. I grinned. I pulled out my chain from the hag and swung it. She swung hers.
"Our signature mark." She said. "You swing yours, I swing mine, then we swing them into each other, coiling together. Mmkay?" I nodded, pleased. We did it together. I slipped it into a pouch on one of my spines. It was inside the spine, it was hollow. I dragged a claw in the dirt and wrote in it. So....don't you have school?
"I ran away." She replied after reading it. You should go back. "Why?" Intelligence is key. "Don't start with that crap." I shrugged. "Fine. I'll do it as long as you stay here." She said. Fine. "Bye!" She ran out with a bookbag. I smiled and dragged her back. "What?" I pointed up. The sun would set soon, so it was about 4:30. "Oh yeah." She smiled and kicked over my words in the dirt. Grrrr.
That girl has heart. Dang, I loved that woman! But would she love me? I'm a dragon, mind you, and she's a human. She was beautiful, though. She was smart, with slight sass and quick thinking skills. Even though most people thought she was ugly because of her albinoism or her out of place eyes, or even her ears and mouth. Her eyes were pretty and confusing like a puzzle. Her mouth was pretty, glittering with her amazing teeth. Her ears? Ha. Not ugly, it helps with big ears, they also look nice with her hair down. The albino thing? We contrast. It looks great. Ah. Tough love. I could only dream.
