The Priestess

I found Mitchel.

Today was an extraordinarily weird day. I ran away from school, found out Markov was dead and discovered a terrified dragon that turned out to be the missing orphan, Mitch. He wanted to stay away from humans, but let me approach when I sobbed out my emotions? Weird. He let me ride him. I was going to take him to the priest Isis, who knew all about curses and dragons. We bickered, and suddenly he switched to the tongue of the dragons. I couldn't understand him, although I knew he didn't want to go to the humans because he thought they would kill him. Sadly, I shared his concerns. If I tried to bring him somewhere he didn't want to go, he could freak out on me and kill me.

"Mitch. Calm down. Ice is really good with her priestly duties. She can restore you. I hope." I whispered the last part under my breath. If he knew that she might fail, would he let me bring him? That's what I thought.

"Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaa." He replied. I didn't understand it. I interpreted it the way I wanted to hear it: let's go. I climbed back on after having jumped off when we landed and rested my hand on his huge grey horns. I was careful about his long, grey spikes. The black-scaled dragon rolled his eyes, groaned, and took flight. He whimper-growl-asked. I couldn't get it, but I assumed it meant which way. I pulled on his head, he groaned, and we flew in the direction of the church.

"Wait here," I commanded, pointing to behind the building. The building was next to the graveyard. I walked inside the church, where I saw Ice up front, talking to a fellow female priest.

"Priestess Ice, may I speak to you alone?" I asked. She knew me, I've visited often. Isis was one of the few people who looked past my deformities and went out of there way to help me.

"Hmm? Oh, it's Kalie! I'll be right over." Her voice sounded like sweet honey. She ended her conversation with the other priestess and rushed to me. She had bright red, curly hair. She was a pretty woman. "What do you need?"

"Are you good with reversal spells, my lady?" I asked politely.

"I am. Why?"

"I have a friend who needs your help desperately."

"Where is this friend?"

"Behind the church."

"Bring that person in, and I will do my best."

"Umm...." I started. "He's not a person, and he can't fit inside this place," I said.

"Ah. Ok. I'm coming." She took off her priest sandals, slipped on mud combat boots, and came behind the church with me. "Where is he?" I didn't see Mitch.

"Mitchel! It's me, Kalie! Come on out, I have the priestess I was talking about!" I yelled. I hope he heard.

"You talked about me to him?" She asked. I worried that Mitch ran back home, or worse, was out killing. But my worries soon washed away as I heard the footsteps of a heavy, large creature as Mitch rumbled into partial view.

"By the Saints!" She swore. "Pardon my language. Is this creature the specimen?"

"Yes." I nodded. She smiled.

"All right. Can you come out some more? I believe your name is Mitch?"

"It is," I said. Mitch crept forward so she could see all of him. He had a puzzled, curious look on his face. Isis smiled, displaying sharp teeth. Did she have those before? I never noticed, and they seemed noticeable.

"Ok. I can reverse this." She started chanting.
