Exiting the base, Liath turned to face Cadet Melinas. "That was so unnecessary. You could just let me go on my way, instead of bringing me here!" Liath hissed. Cadet Melinas flew sternly beside her without a word. "Cadet Melinas, talk to me! You're what? First year out of the academy? Why are you acting as if you have a 6-foot pole up your ass! I will make sure you never passed the rank of cadet, do you hear me?"
"Lady Harmaa-"
"Cinza-Harmaa!"
"Lady Cinza – Harmaa, I apologized for doing my job. You should know not to be in Lumi. If it was other guards, you could be shot on sight."
"Yeah right, as if any of you had the balls to shoot a GrayWing."
"Unfortunately, we have a bandolier filled with balls, leaded, for everyone. You should really take care, my lady. I'm not trying to scare you but you should be aware of how dangerous Lumi can be. We don't bar visitors for fun, the ice storms we just missed can be deadly. I for one, care about sparnas safety."
Liath turned and hovered near Cadet Melinas. "Of course I know! Why can't you just let me be? I know how to take care of myself. Why are you making a big-oh!"
Liath had the wind knocked out of her and went down spiraling straight to the icy floor below.
Strong hands pulled her up and she was going to unleash her rage of a thousand suns when she gazed up to a glorious pair of emerald eyes. The gaze was sharp and deep, it seemed to pierce inside her very soul.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry, I was lost in thought and I didn't see you" A BlackWing was holding her because she lost her ability to stay afloat. His voice was low an deep. He was the precipice she rammed herself into while berating Melinas. He was dressed all in jet black, and in full armor. The only color on him apart from his tanned skin was his green eyes. His long hair was tied in a top knot, his hood fell back, he did not wear a helmet or an aviator hat.
His plain black wings were long and pointed. On the outer edge of his wings, he had long slotted feathers that could spread out further. His wings were almost like hers, it was devoid of any color but black. He was a BlackWing through and through as much as Liath was a GrayWing to the bone. Liath could see a black armband on his right arm, a patch of raven, eagle, and hawk. The BlackWing was a Brother, a high ranking one. He also had two visible gun holsters slung low on his hips.
"In a hurry to go where, Maistras? State your name and the reason why you're in a Winter No-Fly zone" Cadet Melinas didn't waste any time apprehending a new target. Liath rolled her eyes.
"Dimma Juodas. I have a meeting with Captain Sininen at the Lumi Base. Here's my pass" He let her go slowly. Dimma passed a typed pass to Melinas. His eyes never left Liath, who were circling slowly around him, trying to read his armband. Cadet Melinas read the document and nodded.
"You may pass. Be vigilant. The next snow storm is due in 15 minutes."
"Thanks. Now sweetheart, are you okay to fly?" Dimma turned to Liath.
"Uh yeah. I fly." Liath couldn't hold her gaze. His eyes. She did notice that he had a long scar from his right temple reaching almost to his mouth.
Dimma flashed her his most charming smile which looked like a shark breaking the water surface. It looked scary as hell as it distorted his scar. "Good. Hope I'll see you soon. Atavus be with you, sweetheart." He flew off, looking back once and nodded at Liath.
"You fly, huh? Never would have that figured out." Cadet Melinas teased.
Liath snorted and together they flew to the borders of Lumi and Plaz. "Now he looks like a soldier. From the top of his black hood to the end of his steel-toed boots."
