Chapter Twenty Three

Boise, Idaho

Edward's eyelids felt incredibly heavy as he struggled to open them. The light from above stinging them as he instinctively raised a hand to block it out.

Slowly, Edward sat up, careful not to move too quickly as he felt incredibly light headed. Once upright, Edward looked around the room, trying to discern whereabouts he was. The room gave nothing away. The walls were painted a cream colour and on every wall, there was some form of artwork. The floor was wooden, a multicoloured rug taking up most of the space and besides the bed that Edward was on, the only other piece of furniture was an old looking dresser. Edward looked down and saw someone had changed his clothes, he was now wearing a pair of black sweats and a thin long sleeved sleep shirt.

Edward swung his legs over the edge of the bed and steadily got to his feet. He took in a deep breath and tried to find a scent that smelled familiar... there was one. Werewolf. Edward let out an involuntary growl as he started towards the door - he was going to find out what they wanted from him and then he was going to leave (possibly injuring some on the way out).

The vampire ripped the door open and stalked out into the hallway. He caught the scent straightaway and began to follow it. He turned right out of his room and stalked into a foyer where there were some stairs leading to a lower level. Edward approached the bannister and let out a deep growl when he saw one of the weres from the truck talking with two others. Without thinking, he jumped over the bannister, landing with a 'thud' on the tiled flooring below. All three turned to look, bearing their teeth when the realised who it was. Edward wasn't deterred though and grabbed the nearest one to him by the neck, throwing him into the wall, his head making a sickening thud as it hit the brick. He turned back to the other two and grabbed the next nearest one by the hand, pulling him before pushing him down the ground and pressing his knee into the weres shoulder. Edward applied pressure until he felt the bones disconnect from each other and the were howled in pain. The third and final were – the one Edward recognised from the truck – crouched down, ready to phase but Edward drove his fist into the side of his head, grinning a little when he smelt blood. The werewolf was stunned for a moment and Edward used this to his advantage by grabbing the were in a headlock with one arm and using the other to push his head.

The were began to scream in pain as Edward pushed harder, intent on breaking his neck.

"What is going on here?" A voice asked causing Edward to whip his head around.

"Who are you?" Edward asked angrily, fangs dropping as he increased the pressure on the weres neck.

"My name is Aro," Edward froze, dropping the were to the floor as he stared at the dark-haired vampire in front of him. The were groaned as Aro stared back, a smile pulling at the corners of his lips. Edward had never met Aro before, but he had heard stories.

Seeing Edward's face made Aro's smile grow. "You've heard of me!" He walked towards Edward with his arms outstretched, almost like they were old friends. He placed his hands on Edward's shoulders causing Edward to tense, before he smiled at him, looked him up and down and then let out a chuckle.

"I've heard stories about you Edward, but I have to say, you are much more handsome in person." Edward wasn't sure how to react.

"What do you think of my home?" The older vampire asked, making a sweeping gesture with his hands as he twirled around.
