It's News To Me

"Matt... Are you a werewolf?"

The question sounded so simple, like I was a child asking her father about fairies and mermaids. It sounded so surreal.

It wasn't though, it was real. More real than I would like it to be. I was definitely not ready to hear the answer of this question.

But, I need to know.

"What?" Matt asks like he didn't hear me. For a moment, I contemplate asking him again. It would be much easier to rather say 'never mind'.

But then I wont get any answers.

So I confidently say, "I said 'Matt... Are you a werewolf?'" Matt chokes on his spit due to his drink being finished. His face pales to a ghostly white and his eyes widen to the size of saucers.

I guess he didn't see that one coming. Haylee and Alex look at me with mouths' agape, but I don't blame them.

It's not everyday that you hear that question.

"What the-" Here we go again. "How-" Matt says after Alex. Then Haylee interrupts with an, "Oh gosh." After that, like all the other times today, they stop talking.

"Just answer the damn question, please." I grow irritated and that is NO good sign. Matt exchanges glances with our friends before turning back to me.

"N-no." He stutters out. Instantly, I knew it was a lie. The way he acted about the question was anything but a 'No'.

I threateningly raise my eyebrows, showing that I wont believe his obvious lie. Then, a memory comes to mind.

As I am getting out of my car, thoughts consume me. Chris and I had a fight last night about him spending more time with my best friend, Skyler, than his own girlfriend.

I have a theory and I REALLY hope it's not true. With the idea still in my head, I storm into the school, on the look out for Skyler.

Actually, I wasn't really looking. I was on my way to the place that I know she would be. My locker. The good thing about that, is that it is right around the corner.

Before I could get close to turning a corner, Chris appears right in front of me. "What?" I growl at him. I have the right to, he did insult me last night.

Oh, and don't forget the bruise that he gave me when he tried to stop me from walking out on him. Yep, great boyfriend I've got there. Oops, sorry, EX-boyfriend.

"Arabelle, please listen to me. I'm so sorry that I hurt you.-" And blah, blah, blah. Same old crap stories, so I'll spare you're life a few seconds.

"Look, Chris, I really don't care. To clarify, yes we are still broken up and will be forever. No I do not accept your apologies." I roll my eyes.

Pushing a dumbfounded Chris out of the way, I turn the corner to my locker finding the person that I am looking for standing there with a huge grin.

"Did you sleep with Chris?" I question without a second thought. For a moment, she looks like the dumbfounded Chris I left back there but quickly changes to a confused Skyler.

"What?" She questions like she didn't hear me correctly. "Did. You. Sleep. With. Chris." I grit my teeth, holding back my anger.

Skyler sucks in a large intake of breath, her face becoming pale and her eyes widening. She gapes slightly, trying to figure out what to say.

"N-no." Skyler stutters out and just then, I knew it was a lie. With threateningly raised eyebrows, I shake my head, indicating some big trouble.
