I woke up on Logan's bed.....how the hell did I end up on his bed? I stood up and groaned. I was sore everywhere. I looked at my wrist watch. Holy shit! It was 7:30 pm. "Logan!" I tried to yell, but my throat was sore....wonder why.... I put my clothes back on, which were sitting, folded neatly on a chair.
I hardly remember what happened. I walked out of Logan's bedroom and made my way downstairs. "Logan!" I yelled again. I found him sitting at the kitchen table. "Florence? What's wrong?" he asked. "It's 7:30. I have to go home or I'll get in so much trouble." He stood up and grabbed his keys.
"Sorry, I would've woken you up sooner but you seemed pretty tired," he said, grinning. I rolled my eyes playfully and walked to the door.
"Let's go before my dad locks me in my room for all eternity."
We got into the car and Logan drove back to my house.
"Ah damn," I said, noticing my dad's car in the driveway. Why did he have to come home early today?
"Do you mind if I come inside?" Logan asked. I looked at him and then back at my dad's car. "That's not such a good idea." He seemed to understand. "How about this Friday?" That seemed alright. But It will be totally awkward. "Yeah....sure." He leaned over and kissed me. His lips were so soft. I had to force myself to stop kissing him. "I'll see you tomorrow?" I asked him before I got out of his car. He nodded.
"Bye."
When I walked into the house, my dad was standing in the middle of the room, his arms crossed and his eyes directly on me.
I opened my mouth to say something when he put his hand up for me to stop. "Your teacher called. She told me that you were going to need more supplies for her class. I asked her what you were doing and she told me that you weren't at school."
"Dad I-."
"Florence, c'mon! You know how hard it's going to be for you to get into collage yet you decide to ditch school? Where the hell were you anyway?"
I couldn't tell him the truth. That would only make him angrier. "I was with my friend Kas," I lied. I hoped that Kas wouldn't be mad at me. My dad shook his head. "I'm really disappointed in you," he finally said. "Dad, I'm sorry. It was a stupid thing to do and I won't ever do it again," I promised. "It's too late for that. And as punishment, you will give me your cell phone and your laptop and you will be working at the store for 2 hours every day after school. Got it?" I sighed. My dad was so annoying sometimes. As if he never ditched class before. I stomped upstairs to my room and lied down on my bed. My dad was being unfair. And that brought my mind to mom. If only she were, I'd have someone to truly lean on. Someone I could talk to. She'd understand me and the fact that I was in love. I wiped the tears from my eyes. She left for a reason. I don't believe she would've just disappeared like that. I wish I knew what happened. I decided to shower and get ready for bed. I went over to my purse and took out my cell phone. At least I wasn't addicted to it like most girls my age. As I was about to walk out of my room, it beeped. I stopped and turned back around. I checked the text message. My heart quickened as I read it.
It said:
From: Number Unknown
To: 1-659-142-0345
Stay away from him or you'll get hurt just like your mother. I'm watching you bitch. Back off or they'll be consequences.
I deleted the message and closed the phone. The only thing that grabbed my attention was the "you'll get hurt, just like your mother" part. My mother? I closed my eyes. I never thought of my mother being the victim. I always thought that she'd abandoned me and my dad. My dad.....What had he done to her? I knew, thought I didn't dare say it out loud that my dad was the reason she left.
My head started hurting but I promised myself that I would find out the truth. No matter what.
