"I'm sorry Ms. Porter but there's simply nothing we can do. All other rooms are full and swapping isn't an option this early in the school semester. If you really want to change dorms, you'll have to wait until after spring break"I couldn't believe what he had just told me, spring break?? That's so long from now. I huffed and turned my back to him, storming back up to my room.
I slammed the door open and was greeted by the unnamed boy.
"What did they say" I turned to face him, I crafted a sentence in my head. Somehow he intimidated me and I didn't even know his name. "There's nothing they could do"
"That's fucking bullshit" He raised his voice and stormed out of the dorm room, leaving me stood there by myself. I sighed and grabbed the handle of my suitcase, pulling it into the first room I saw.
Luckily the mysterious boy's stuff was still in the hallway so I had first pick, the room had a bed, a dresser, and a desk. I was halfway through unpacking my stuff when I heard a knock on the door.
I opened it to find a tall blonde haired boy in front of me, he gave me a look of confusion in which I returned. "Hi?" I questioned as he looked behind me into my room, "is Alex here?" he asked bluntly.
"I'm sorry, I don't know who that is' i said becoming bored with this conversation. "He's got brown hair, brown eyes, he's really tall and annoying. He said this was his dorm room?"
I'm guessing he means my new roommate, it would make sense to whoever this boy was told him this was his room. "Oh, you mean my roommate". I laughed as he widened his eyes "Roommate?"
"Yeah, Its quite strange. But no he stormed out after he found out we have to stay in the same dorm until spring break" he nodded and we stood in an awkward silence for a few seconds.
"Can I come in?" quite alarmed by his request I pulled the door closer to me. "To wait for Alex I mean, we are meant to be going somewhere together and I don't really want to stand in the hallway for however long he takes" he continued, I smiled at him. He seemed nice and didn't look like he could pull off a murder so I opened the door to let him in.
"I'm Dylan by the way" he said as he wandered over to the couch. "Melody" I followed him and sat down in the corner "A pretty name for a pretty girl" He smirked at me and I felt my cheeks go red. I turned my head to the side, letting my hair fall down to cover my face.
"Aww did I make you blush" He spoke with a hint of amusement, I'm not going to deny that Dylan was good looking. I could tell by looking at him that many girls probably throw themselves at him.
"In your dreams" I looked up and smiled at him, he laughed "I'm offended". I let out a flirty laugh, "Not my fault you aren't as smooth as you think". He opened his mouth to say something but closed it as the door swung open.
My now named roommate, Alex walked in and glared at me and Dylan sat on the sofa. "What are you doing sat with my friend?" He spat at me. I didn't answer, not knowing what to say "Dude I was waiting for you, I asked he-" He was cut off "Are you going to answer me or sit there like some idiot". Anger filled me, I didn't even know this person.
Why is he being so rude? Dylan burst out laughing "Dude stop being such a dick lets go". Alex gave me a disgusted look before heading back towards the door. "See ya later princess" Dylan called to me as Alex pushed him out the door.
I rolled my eyes at the rudeness of the brown haired boy. I don't understand what his problem is, It's not my fault we have to share a room together, I'm pretty sure it's worse for me considering I have to put up with his shit until spring break.
I returned back to my room to finish my packing. I gave my room a bit of life, hanging up some fairy lights around the bedpost and hanging up a cork board filled with pictures of all my friends and family from back home. Even though I was only two hours away, it still felt like I was on a completely different planet. I've never been away from my family, I cried when packing. I wipe the tear threatening to spill from my eye as I thought of home, dramatic I know.
I picked up my phone, checking the time. Quarter past 6, it still felt earlier than that. I walked out of my room and sat on the couch, I pulled up Netflix on the tv and settled down for the night.
