A/N- Spoiler for this Oneshot: No one dies. I just don't want anyone to freak out, and not finish reading this because it's too much to handle. That and I don't think i could actually write a convincing death scene that doesn't come with a pre-written script.

Also! Go check out my new friend FennaB11 and her Star Wars One shot series, It's really good!

You had just heard that the squadrons had returned from a skirmish and that several of them had been injured badly. You ran towards the hangar and asked several people if they had seen your friend anywhere. One pilot finally said that they had seen your friend being taken to the medical bay. You shouted a quick thank you as you turned and ran away again.

You finally made it to the medical bay and looked around frantically for anyone who looked like they knew what was going on. You were out of breath and shaking with worry when you finally saw someone rushing out of a surgical room. "Please!" you shouted, running up to the male nurse, "Please can you tell me what happened to my friend?" The nurse gave you a a sad look, and your heart dropped.

"Are you (Y/F/N) (Y/L/N)?" He asked you while flipping a page on his clip board.

"Yes." you said, your heart dropping, "Is he gonna be alright? Is he alive?" Your eyes started watering.

The nurse looked relived for a second at the chance to give you some relatively good news. "Yes your friend is alive."

You let out a breath you had been holding. "Oh thank the kriffing Force." your shoulders sagged in relief.

"But," the man continued, "He is not stable, and we don't know if he's gonna last the night." Your eyes widen again, and you squeeze your eyes closed to block out the light, you felt a very bad headache coming on. The nurse continued, "He has your name on his paperwork as his unrelated next of kin. So you are allowed to go see him as soon as he gets out of surgery." You sent him a small nod, and he turned you around, "Why don't you go sit in the waiting room down the hall. I'll send someone to find you when we are done." you nodded again and walked slowly to the waiting room.

You didn't know how long it had actually been, but you did know that it felt like a lifetime or two before someone came to lead you to your friend's bedside. They had moved him to a room that had several beds along each wall and your friend was lying in the bed furthest from the door. You did notice that there were two other people sleeping in the beds, but you didn't mind.

The assistant who had lead you to the room asked you to remain quiet so as not to wake the other patients and then left you to yourself. You walked slowly over to the side of your friends bed, hoping to see him awake, knowing that you wouldn't, and wanting to delay the reality of the situation. You sat down in the chair next to your friend.

You don't know how long you sat their holding his hand either. You had sort of dozed off, when a frantic beeping sounded next to you. You jerked from your daze and found the source, the heart monitor. Your friend had flatlined.

You stood there shocked, before several doctors rushed into the room and quickly pushed you aside. You couldn't say anything and your throat was constricting. The doctors had brought in a crash cart and were using the defibrillator. You looked away quickly. You didn't want to see this. Just hearing it was bad enough. You saw one of the other patients in the room had also been jolted awake by the loud noise and was looking towards the bed of your friend with concern.

And then you recognized him, Poe Dameron, the Resistance Poster Boy. He noticed you staring and frowned, "Are you okay?" he asked you.

You were opening your mouth to answer, but it was cut of by the sound of the beep going steady again, and the sighs of relief from the doctors. You clenched your jaw and shook your head slowly, looking at the ground.

He tried to sit up, so he could talk to you better, but stopped halfway, sucked in a sharp breath and sank back onto the hard mattress. You rushed over to help him, and chided, "Don't do that! You're obviously in here for a reason." You pulled the blanket back up and straightened out his pillow.

"Sorry," He smirked painfully, "Just wanted to distract you."

You rolled your eyes and sent him a grateful smile, "Ya, thanks. Just don't hurt yourself next time." You moved to go back to your friend's bedside but he reached out and grabbed your wrist, and let out a huff of pain that he quickly tried to hid behind a smirk.

"The name's Poe, Poe Dameron."

"Don't worry," You said. "I know who you are." You tried to walk away again but he didn't let go and it pulled his arm roughly, he closed his eyes and sucked in a breath, breathing carefully.

"Oh Gosh!" you said worried that you had reopened a wound or something. "Are you okay?"

He squinted at you and half chuckled through gritted teeth, "Ya, you just didn't tell me your name, and it hurt my feelings." He smiled again, and it lit up his whole face.

You felt your own face heat up and shook your head at him. "If your just going to hurt yourself trying to find out what my name is then I'm not going to tell you." you gently pried his hand off your wrist and walked away. You sat down in the chair next to your friend's bed and smiled at Poe from across the room, completely satisfied that for once you had said something totally cool to a crush.

But you weren't expecting Poe to stick out his lower lip and pout at you. Your face turned red again and tried to avoid looking at him for the rest of the day.
