He stood there and wondered if it was Ms Helena. He quickly put on his shirt and headed for the door. Before he could even reach for the handle the door opened.
She finished washing the dishes and realized that he had left his scarf on the chair. She decided to go and take it to him. she went to the basement and knocked on the door but no answer came from the other side. She thought maybe he had gone to shower so she opened the door.
She was shocked to see him on the other side of the door having that weird look on his face.
"You.....You left this on the dining table", she said as she handed him the scarf.
"Thank you Christina. I had not noticed I left it", he replied.
Her cheeks flashed red when she heard him call her name.
She quickly dashed out of the room and that left a smile on Arhtur's face. He had never seen her react that way.
He went and took a shower then lay down on the bed passing out once his head hit the mattress.
He woke to the sound of a knock on the door. He jolted out of bed and opened the door. Ms Helena stood there with a pair of clothes.
"I hope they fit you. This is what I could find in the nearby store across the street", she said.
He took it and said, "Thank you ma'am".
"Please call me Ms Helena", she said.
"Thank you Ms Helena", he replied.
She then left him to try on the clothes. He looked down on the clothes and saw that they were a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He quickly changed into the clothes and they fit him well. He was left wondering how she knew his size but consoled himself that she just guessed his size.
He finished dressing and took his other clothes and went upstairs ready to leave. He went to the living room where he found Ms Helena.
"Ms Helena, I beg to take my leave now", he said.
"I thought you would sit and have breakfast with us before you go", she replied.
He thought of how he would struggle to get breakfast and he moved to the dining area with Ms Helena following him behind.
He began salivating even before he got to the table. The table had bacon, sausages, toast, scrambled eggs and a jug of coffee. The smell of coffee drew him closer to the table.
Christina joined them on the table sitting opposite Arhtur. Ms Helena served Arhtur and immediately she was done he pounced on his plate like a predator attacking its prey. She was shocked at how he devoured his food. She indeed saw the evidence of him not having a meal.
He looked at his watch and realized that he was running late for his class. He picked up his clothes and went to Ms Helena.
"Thank you Ms Helena for your hospitality. I beg to leave now since I am running late for class", he said.
"You are welcome and if you ever need anything please do not hesitate to come", she said.
He nodded in agreement and left for school. He thought 'For the first time in three months he enjoyed breakfast'.
As he was deep in thought, Christina tapped him from behind making him jump. She could not help but laugh to his reaction.
"You....startled me. I thought you would be in school by now", he said.
She looked at him in amusement.
"Why would you think that?" she asked.
"I thought you have a car to drive to school", he replied.
"I do but today I do not feel like driving. I want to take a walk to school", she said.
With that they walked up to school where they parted ways heading to their classrooms.
