As the carriage slowed down, Lena looked outside the window. They were passing through a big fancy white gate. If the Luthor's eight-bedroom residence was something to be proud of, the phantom's mansion was something you should be dreaming about.
The mansion was enormous! Lena swore she had never seen an estate as big as the phantom's.
She couldn't help but admire the beautiful yard in front of the mansion. The yard was divided into four columns with a circle in the center. In each of the columns, there was a statue that was surrounded by beautiful flowers. In the first column, there was a statue of a pawn.
Yes, the pawn from the chess pieces. A bunch of primroses surrounded the pawn.
As you may have expected, in the other columns, other chess pieces were built. A knight, surrounded by poppies, a bishop, surrounded by cowslip and last but not least, a rook, surrounded by bluebells.
What made Lena confused, though, was the center of the yard. There wasn't a statue there. Only lilies surrounded the circle, with an empty spot in the center -as though reserved.
Sensing the confusion from the young Luthor, Winn cleared his throat.
"My master wishes to build a statue of a king and queen there for once he had married. She-Ahem! I mean HE... He wants the statue to be the witness and proof of his love for his future wife."
The valet was looking slightly suspicious when he accidentally called his master a she... But Lena chooses to ignore it. Her mind already filled with what a romantic person her future husband would be...
Romantic, productive, kind, and potentially handsome.
A husband every girl would kill for.
The youngest Luthor smiled.
"I see... He sounds very romantic. I can't wait to meet him."
She said. Winn's eyes immediately widened. The valet didn't think that far. With a light chuckle, the valet forced a smile on his face.
"Oh, I'm sure my master is eager to meet you too."
Lucky for the valet, the carriage finally stopped. Fortunately, Winn escaped from the thousands of questions Lena was going to ask him then.
The mishaps in his expression from the valet stop didn't go unnoticed by the young lady Luthor.
Lena was too excited to step into the mansion. The moment James opened the carriage door, Lena immediately stepped out of the fancy carriage.
Twelve maids were standing in line in front of the mansion's entrance. They neatly dressed in their black and white maid uniform. All of them bowed their head as they greeted Lena.
"Welcome, miss."
Such a grand welcoming! It was as if Lena was someone vital that it became a must for them to greet her like that. On second thought, Lena was someone IMPORTANT. She was their potential lady of the house.
Lena couldn't help but blush at the thought.
One of the maids stepped closer to the young lady Luthor and lowered her head. Although it was just a split second, Lena couldn't help but admire the maid. She was beautiful... Too beautiful to be a maid. The maid was slightly taller than average with a brunette bob haircut.
"We've been waiting for you, miss. If you follow me for a second, Master has prepared something for you."
When Lena finally snapped out of her train of thought, the maid was staring at the young lady with a confused look.
Feeling somewhat awkward and uncomfortable, Lena just nodded and followed the maid. Leaving Winn and James behind.
Once the two young ladies were out of their view, James turned his head to the valet beside him.
"Why did you lie?"
The coachman asked. Winn merely shook his head. He stared at the mansion's entrance, the spot where Lena stood a few minutes ago. As the wind blew on his face, a few strands of his hair stood up. The valet who is usually very sensitive about his hair didn't seem to mind. Winn gulped before he answered calmly.
"I seriously don't know. I just want our master to be happy with miss Luthor... She's never wanted anyone before..."
The two servants sighed in sync. What drama they have caused... Indeed, Kara was the one who told them to get Lena and ask for her hand in marriage, but their master never told them to lie about her gender.
How would Lena Luthor react if she knew her future husband is a SHE?
