NARRATOR: Darkness surrounded the windows of the small cottage of which four people called home. This made sense of course, as it was barely three o'clock. While the general population would be sleeping in their homes, four intelligent people, two just of the age of sixteen, one just coming of age at eighteen, and one on his way to being twenty-one, were just waking up.

CRESS: This is it guys! The moment we prove to everyone that we are capable of anything!

CRESS looks around expecting everyone to be excited, but is met with the exact opposite.

SCARLET: It's three in the morning, stop yelling and let us acclimate to the early time.

THORNE: You can do all the acclimating you need on the way up Everest.

CINDER: All of you can shut up and get ready. We have a huge day ahead of us that could make or break us, and if anything, I would rather be broken on the way up Everest, not sitting here with my family.

SCARLET, CRESS, and THORNE: Sorry Cinder.

NARRATOR: To the outsider, it may seem that this was a tight-knit blood family. But the outsider would be wrong. They were friends, who had done so much together, they were basically family. And they planned on adding climbing Everest to their list.

NARRATOR: As Scarlet packed the oxygen tanks, Thorne packed the food supply, Cress packed the base camp set-up, and Cinder packed the Climbing gear, the sun started to rise, signaling the need to leave all they knew, and venture into the unknown.
