"For all the sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: 'It might have been!'" -John Greenleaf Whittler
One|| Provoking Parker
Nothing exciting happened the next day. It was as usual as always. William made pointless bets, the teachers taught, you know, just what usually goes on in high school. The only difference was that now I had to actually speak to Parker Gray so I didn't get called "Underwear Freak" for the rest of the miserable high school year.
The problem was that, as you may have noticed, I'm not very sociable. I wasn't very good at first impressions and it was no secret.
That was the only reason why I was sitting on the floor, thinking of how I could approach a boy I had never spoken to before. If I made a fool out of myself in front of him, I'd be a goner.
I mean, do you know how hard it would be for someone like me to talk to someone like Parker? Let's be honest; I should just get it over with and tell Will I have no chance in winning.
"Ellie, mom says you have to take me to the mall," my youngest sister, Melody, sang with a smug smile on her face.
Despite the fact of us being sisters, Melody was everything that I wasn't (Surprise, surprise. Didn't expect that, did you?). She had blonde, curly hair; I had brown, dull hair. She was confident; I was...not. The only thing we had in common were our brown eyes.
You get the idea. My sister, at only 13 years old, had conquered the world while I sat on my bed stalking celebrities. If she were in my position, she'd charm the pants off of Parker. . . not literally, I hope.
I groaned and threw a random object at her- which she easily dodged. "Can't you see I'm busy!" I hissed as I covered my face with my hands and groaned.
Melody furrowed her eyebrows and pointed at the position I was in. "You don't look busy," she remarked. I glared at her and stood up. "You're lucky mom and dad are downstairs because if they weren't, I would've shoved you in a bus without food or money," I muttered angrily.
"Thanks, sis. Love you too," Melody said with a smirk before exiting my room, murmuring a few word that I didn't grasp. I grabbed my mother's keys and walked outside towards her brownish minivan.
After twelve minutes of hearing my sister's bickering, we finally arrived at the only mall we had in this town.
"Then Tami said that she hated me!" Melody exclaimed and threw her hands up in the air. "We have been friends since the third grade!" I nodded, not really paying attention to what she was saying, and smiled sarcastically. "Can you get out of the car now?" I asked.
Melody glared at me and got out of the car. "Don't forget to pick me up at 5:00!" She said before slamming the door. I rolled my eyes and was about to drive away to the magical land that I call my house, but someone caught my eye.
Melody walked into the mall with a boy. Now, I could honestly care less if she hung out with a freaking psychopath, but having proof of her-possibly- having a boyfriend could be an advantage for me. She wasn't allowed to date and I could obviously blackmail her into doing all my chores. I grinned and killed the engine before getting out of the car and rushing towards the entrance.
I had luckily spotted her walking to the food court with the teenage boy and quickly shoved my hand into my back pocket to retrieve my phone. I smiled evilly as I recorded her flirt with the boy and twirl her blonde hair.
