Kunal Verma hardly knew who jumped onto his lap while he gulped down bunches of liquor cornering himself at Golden Swan.
His Saturday evening resort.

" What's in Subhadra Hegde that's not in me? " , a whisper struck the chord of his heart just 'cause of the name being pronounced.

" Subhadra Hegde....is magic.. " , his speech slurred, his eyes unhelpful, but he definitely knew each word he was speaking.

" Maybe, she's a witch.
Hence black is her magic.", someone continued.

" Anything will do till it's she. " , he filled another glass with his shaking hands. Someone stopped his hand.

" You're too drunk to hold yourself darling! " , the artificially smexy voice sounded again.

Kunal Verma started laughing.

" This..
Is... The difference between Subhadra Hegde and you, she, they...
She won't stop, she won't care.. She won't give a damn even if I die for her.

You know " , he faltered but tried to speak,

" If she gets on my car, her hairpin will puncture my tyre when she drops it accidentally from the window. She won't apologize. If I dump the car and walk along, I'll give her hands on steep roads, neither will she take, nor give hers even if I trip on stones. She'll reach the counter along with me, grab my favorite drink first and even if there's no more in stock, she won't share. I can chop off my finger helping her with her scalpel, she won't stop to even look at my wound...

I can fall into the pond trying to pull her up, she'll get up over me and walk away, not even looking back....

She's fire, won't ever invite insects, and won't care if they burn, because it was their choice.... "

Kunal Verma felt light, lighter, lightest. It wasn't the alcohol, it was Subhadra Hegde riding sharp over his brain right now, and yeah, definitely, silencing that someone with an artificially smexy voice...

" What the hell made you laugh Subhadra Hegde? " , Pooja Behl was more astonished than jealous at the moment.

And Naresh Tripathi was curious of this woman's deeds, as always.

" Subhadra, sit. And explain. " , he calmly ordered.

Subhadra did. But she seemed like trying to suppress fits of laughter within her boundaries.

" I've got nothing to explain sir. Just that, it seems Madam Behl is getting insecure of sexy women around, owing to her impending menopause. "

" Subhadra Hegde!!!! " , the roar was demonic from her side, evidently because the allegation was too touchy as a whole.

Naresh Tripathi had to intervene again.

" Behave with your super seniors Subhadra! Tell me, what was that cigarette like substance you are offering to a lung cancer patient in that footage Subhadra? "

Subhadra pursed her lips and brought out a little box from the pocket of her ripped jeans. And placed in front of them.

" My dear authority, it's the same antinicotine addiction withdrawing sticks that workers use on chainsmokers. Rishabh was a cute boy and he asked me to bring him these. "

" That cute boy died today, but you look unaffected. " , Pooja Behl was trying hard to prevent an outburst.

" Your husband died and you looked unaffected the very next day. " , Subhadra Hegde didn't ever stare at the snakelike human.

Naresh Tripathi coughed and began talking to prevent the room turn into an arena.

" I see. These are simple sticks. Nothing to do with his death. " , he looked at Behl.

" Seriously sir? Okay fine. The footage clearly shows the boy took some puffs and returned a stick to her. Where's that half drunk stick? We can send that for forensics. "

Subhadra laughed once again.

" You seriously think I'll roam around with half drunk sticks to prove my innocence before n-i-n-c-o-m-p-oooooo-p-s? " , she stretched the last word.

" Sir, I am definitely sure that the stick she herself offered had something else. Like a combination of drugs that could stop his heart... I.. "

" And why are you trying to put such a grave accusation on her time and again Dr Behl? ", Naresh Tripathi finally gave in.

Subhadra hummed a tune of 'Smooth Criminal'.

" Sir because that boy didn't want to live, I have myself heard from nurses... "

" So? "

" So!? Sir, you know what I'm talking about! "

" I don't Dr Behl! Enough of this. Subhadra, you may leave. Take this along. "

Picking up the box, Subhadra Hegde walked out of the room with a victorious smirk on her face, leaving behind a loser snake.

An indecipherable smirk.

' Devil whispered in my ear, "You're not strong enough to withstand the storm."
Today I whispered in Devil's ears,
" I am storm. "

To be continued....
