Artoria's POV
I awoke to a flute being played. A lovely tune that played threw out my childhood. The sounds made me smile, thinking of the leaves dancing in the wind. I worked up the energy and sat up. I saw my two older brothers playing their flutes.
"He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness, for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thy are with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou prepare a table before me in the presence of the enemies. Thou have acknowledged me as thy equal. My cup overflows with fine wine. And my plate has a meal fit for you. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. For you, are my king." I said as they stopped and followed along in the end. My mother followed along as well. She is seated at the front of the carriage looking forward as the two horses continue on the dirt road.
That poem I just said was an old prayer that all mages say in the early mornings and late night's. At one point all mages were under a rule of a great king. He was strong and had a heart of gold. Anyways...
We have been traveling on the road in our small wagon for 2 days and 1 night. But in a couple minutes, we will be arriving at our destination. A chamber of wonders and a place of unimaginable terrors. The Cirque Du Freak was my first real home.
I was only 5, yet I had my own act. I sat in the middle of a stage with 6 baskets around me. I would then sing a song in a hiss-like snake sound. The basket's lids would open and the cobras within would be controlled by me and bend to my will. I made them do anything I wanted.
Even so, I was a training mage who, at the time, used my ability to control the elements, to create special effects like fireworks.
My brothers and I were also the original trainers for the WolfMan. We used hypnosis and charmed him to be calm. But now..10 years later, I am returning to my home at the Cirque Du Freak.
I had left because my mother insisted my older brothers and I go to proper mage school since she was not allowed to teach us most things by mage law. And after 10 years of training, I graduated early. And my brothers did as well.
I'm so happy to return home!!! Not for long...but I'll be back... Some new people might be there!!! And maybe there will be old performers who I haven't seen in a long time!!! Like Mr. Crepsley!!! Plus I still need to charge him for the antidote I 'borrowed' from my mother's things. And he better not have used too much. I need to make more and replace it.I suddenly snapped out of thought by the wagon hitting a halt. I hit my head and rubbed it as I stood up. I walked to the front of the wagons and my eyes lit up. I saw the Cirque Du Freaks tents lying around and the huge red and white striped one in the center. I almost screamed as we got off the wagon.
As we were about to go to Mr. Tall and announce our arrival we saw him come from behind a tent and head straight for us. In a matter of seconds he stopped right in front of me and smiled. Which he rarely does. I smiled and I extended my hand. He removed his hat and set it on his chest as he bowed his head.
He then took my hand and shook it. "It's good to see you Artoria." He said.
He then shook my mother's hand. "A pleasure to see you to Urania." He said.
Then he looked at my brothers. "And I could not forget the infamous Chastiefol twins, Klide and Klaus." He said shaking their hands as well. He then stopped back and motioned my mother to follow. But what I didn't notice is that the Tiny People had followed him here. So as my mother left they began to unload our wagon and before we left sight. I saw them run over closer to the other tents and set up our tent near a big grey one.
I paid no mind since they always did stuff like this. I then looked forward as Mr. Tall left away with my mother.
I sighed and looked at my brothers. Then I saw them cover their eyes with black clothes. "What are you doing? This is our old home. You know they won't judge you here." I said looking at them upset and sad.
You see, they have more qualities of my mother. But the experiment started with them..... However, they didn't show any sign of success. Sadly a defect of the experiment was they didn't have eyes.
My mother was able to sow buttons for them as eyes and gave them vision. So even though they can't blink with button eyes, they can see. But they are very self-conscious.
"We know...but still. All that torment...." Klaus said removing his cloth and looking at it. "Yeah.." Klide said as he took his off and looked at it.
"You don't need to hide what you are here. Sure there may be more people here than before. Maybe some we haven't met before. But they understand the concept of living here. And you both don't need to be afraid of your differences." I said. They then put the cloth in their pockets. Then they looked up and tilted their heads.
"What about you?" They said at the same time. "Shush. It's natural for a girl to be shy. Plus...I don't really like my skin... Sometimes I love it. Other times I can't forget what he did...to me...and mom..." I said.
They nodded at me then cracked smiles. They then looked at each other and their smiles turned into a smirk. Then they turned to look at me. "We challenge you!!!" They both shouted.
