Chapter 3: Hybrid

Artorias POV

After walking, I got to the tent the Little People set up. They finished and looked at me. I then walked to a bag I had and took a chicken out. It was dead and had no head. I then threw it at him and he caught it. He then left as the others followed. That won't feed all of them but I'm guessing they already ate. 

I sighed and then went to our box of food. I took some rice out and put it in a pot with water from a barrel. I then looked at my brothers who were gone. 

I sighed again then left the tent and looked for them. In the distance, I saw both near the beginnings of a forest not too far off. They were gathering wood. "Hey uh, Medusa. Are you like a wizard or a w-witch or a magician?" Someone said from behind me. 

I turned and saw Darren. I could tell he hesitated to call me a witch. "I'm a mage. I don't worship a devil-like a witch. And I don't need a wand to be a wizard like Harry Potter. Now leave before I drive a stake into you." I said staring daggers at him. He took a slight step back and saw I was serious. 

I sighed and looked at him but this time I burst out laughing. I then wrapped my arm around his neck and pulled him closer as I ruffled his hair. "I'm just messing with you!! Since you're a vampire, I can tell you know Larten." I said letting him go. 

He began to breath heavy. I think I suffocated him a little. "Sorry!! I can't control my strength!!! I'm kinda a hybrid human mixed with an animal and strangling is in my hybrid nature." I said making sure I didn't hurt him. 

He may be a vampire but he's only half. "A hybrid?" He asked as I let his neck go. "Yeah. That was one of the reasons I was checking your friend out." I said rubbing my neck embarrassed. 

"Evra? Are you like him?? I MEAN- NOT LIKE IN AN INSULTING WAY!!!" He said shaking his head and motioning his hands in a spastic way. "It's ok. Actually, that's how I got my name. Medusa was based on the Greek gorgon sister myth. My hair is exactly like Evras in color, but my skin is different. It's like it is now but I have patches of green and lime-colored scales around my body. Although my magic allows me to hide my hair color and parts of my skin. I can't rely on it 24/7 as it takes up a lot of  energy to have an illusion spell on." I said. 

I then held my arms up in the air. "I can use my magic to hide the scales on my face, neck, and stomach. As for the other parts like my legs and arms, they are hidden by my long pants, and the bandage wrap." I said as I unwrapped my left arm. I only took a bit off and exposed a spot of scales. 

He looked surprised and then looked back at me as I wrapped it back up. "Are you new here?" He asked. "No. I was here 10 years ago. I was young but I had my own act with my brothers. Assuming you still have him, we controlled the Wolf-man. We also entertained the crowd while other acts got ready." I said as I finished fixing my cloth bandages. 

He nodded then froze. I was confused and then heard a hiss. I looked at his leg and saw one of my Black Mambas got loose. It was slithering up his ankle. I chuckled then grabbed her head and unwrapped her body.

When I finished and stepped away from Darren, who had a relieved expression but at the same time looked around and saw a couple of snake baskets. He then looked back at me. "That's a lot of snakes.." He said as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Yeah. They like me. I raised them from their mommy who died. She was my first snake." I said as I put the snake I had in her basket. 

       My brothers then came in and saw Darren. "Hi." They said in unison and began to make a fire in the center. When they finished, Klide cleared his throat and then blew black smoke from his mouth into the pile of wood. Then he clicked his teeth and a spark ignited the smoke. In an instant, there was a fire. They saw the rice and grabbed it as they sat down and began to cook it over the fire.

 "Are you both mages as well??" Darren asked. They looked at him and then nodded. "We are the Chastiefol Twins but we are also known as the most talented weapon summoners in the mage community for our age," Klaus said as he stood up and set up some small bowls. 

"Im going to go see Mr. Crepsly. He may not be up but still!!" I shouted as I grabbed a black book and looked at Darren. "Lead the way!!" I shouted frantically as I saluted him. He giggled then did the same as he marched me somewhere. 

While we were marching I saw a couple of old performers. And I saw the Wolf-mans cage hidden inside a tent. 

"Hey Medusa, by any chance do you want me to keep your secret? You know, about your snake hybrid thing." Darren asked as he stopped. 

"Well, the only reason I told you was because I wanted to make more friends. And friends don't lie to each other. Also, I don't mind you telling him." I said putting my hand on my hips and smiling. He smiled back and went into a tent. 

I followed behind and as I went in the tent flap fell behind me. I looked around as my vision adjusted like a snake. 'Sometimes these mutation abilities come in handy.' I thought to myself as I looked around. There wasn't much here. A couple of crates and a coffin placed in the center held up by a support beam that held the tent up. 

I smiled and then walked up to it. Then a small object caught my eye. I saw a small box behind his coffin that was covered with a red cloth. I picked it up and soon Darren sat on the floor and I did too. He motioned to be quiet than took the cloth off. 

I saw Madam Octa in her cage!!! She looks bigger. I smiled and then tilted my head. 'Hello,' I thought. 'Hello, Artoria.' She responds. I'm so happy to see her. 

After a while of me and her chatting Darren got my attention and motioned for us to leave. I nodded then got up. I then saw him put the cage back and cover it. We both then stood up and walked back to the entrance. After he dropped the flap he looked at me. 

"Can you communicate with her?" He asked. "Yeah. You can too. If you're Lartens assistant then you help with his act right? Which means you need to telepathically tell her what to do." I said. 

He nodded and then looked behind me. I turned and saw Evra. "Uh Hello, Ar- Medusa." He said stumbling his words a little. 

I turned to Darren and put my book into his hands. He held it and then looked at me. I smirked at him and then winked. I then turned to look at Evra and walked to him with a straight face. I could tell he felt nervous. I then took my top hat off and threw it up catching it and turning it back into a cloth which I put in my pocket. I stopped in front of him and out of nowhere hugged him.      

"You are now my friend," I said. I heard Darren chuckle and I pulled back and looked at him. He then motioned to Evra. I looked at Evra and saw him blushing. His greenish skin turned red as he looked at me. I was confused then realized since he is a bit taller the me, when I grabbed him and hugged him, I smothered his face into my boobs. They weren't big, I was almost a C size. But still...... 

 Shrugging I turned my back and walked to Darren who was still chuckling and almost crying. I then grabbed my book and waved at both as I headed for the woods.
