Maria's P.O.V
It's funny how things can go from bad to good in a blink of an eye. It was starting cool off outside and the girls and I loved to take afternoon walks. Of course, we always had guards walking with us but they kept their distance. Always around but out of sight, so far they didn't have to attack anyone and no one attacked us.
The girls and I were out on our afternoon walk, I watch as they run ahead of me playing and singing. It was nice weather out to walk, I had got up earlier this morning and packed a picnic lunch so that we could enjoy the day and not have to rush home to eat. I smile as one of the girls does something funny.
"Don't go too far" I yell out to them finding me a place where I could sit and watch them play.
I lay out a blanket I brought with us and sit spreading out the food and stuff inside my picnic basket. I let them play as I get things ready then call them in to eat. We all gathered on the blanket eating the sandwiches and chips that Laura had fixed us that morning. After eating the girls asked to go back out to play. I give them permission telling once again not to stray too far away. I smile as they all run into the sands giggles and shouts can be heard from their little lips as they enjoy the sun. I take out a small piece of cheesecake that was put in there just for me and for the girls there are cookies. I smile as I take the first bite enjoying the taste as I look out at the girls as they play. My eyes are on them as I take another bite swallowing I start to choke. My hands fly to my throat and I jump from my seat on the ground.
"Mommy" I hear one of the girls cry out
"Luna" one of the guards shouts beside me
In seconds his arms are around me between my navel and ribcage with a quick pump he pushes against me over and over until I am throwing up and coughing. I cover my mouth as I cough then feeling something wet I look at my hand then with panic turn to the guard that had just done the Heimlich on me. My hand covered in blood then everything goes black.
Dylan's P.O.V
I am enjoying the cool weather outside, sitting in my office with my window open letting the light breeze come through. My head in the work that I am doing, signing papers and reading emails. It's noon and Maria had taken the girls down to the beach to enjoy the sun and water. Bridget is out shopping and all my staff have the day off leaving me alone to think. Because I wasn't planning on going anywhere I just have a pair of old faded jeans on. The radio plays Mozart 6th Symphony on low volume.
I hear a bird outside and turn to listen to its song a small smile on my lips as I watch the little guy hop from branch to branch. All at once the silence is sliced with cries from the girl. Twirling around in the chair I jump up hurrying into the hall thinking at first that something has happened to one of the girls. As I get to the entryway I see one of the guards coming through the door carrying Maria. Her eyes closed and she lays limp in his arms.
