Chapter 2//The Team
////Storm's P.O.V////
Once the crowd dies down I can see Nashi. All that's left around her are Natsu, Lucy, Luna, Igneel, Rosemary, and Nova. I'm guessing Nova is just trying to act nice. Rin and Sylvia are both sitting in the other corner twirling water between their fingers, probably didn't even look at Nashi.
Her parents-- mostly Lucy-- hug her, then let go, then hug her again. Luna hugs her once, and Igneel-- who isn't a touchy kind of guy-- gives her a little lean. Rosemary and Nova leave the reunited family.
Eventually, Luna runs off to join her friends. Natsu gets Lucy to let go of their daughter, then they leave her be. She probably doesn't want to be smothered even though she's been gone for 7 years. Igneel starts to lead Nashi towards me, I stand up and awkwardly wave.
I'm slightly mad at her. She was gone for 7 years, and it'd been 2 years since I got a letter from her, and half a year since anyone in the guild received a letter from her. I missed her and was worried for 7 years. Now she's back. God, she's so pretty.
In the years she's been gone her hair has grown, she now has it up in a pony tail, it suits her. When we were ten she always wore pants and a shirt, boy clothes, she would call them. Now she's wearing a black skirt and a short shirt. She would've said how revealing it was years ago, but now she's wearing it.
7 years ago, her sister, Luna, started growing a chest-- I feel so awkward thinking this-- and she was flat. I mean! We were ten! Obviously she would be flat-chested. Now, though, she wasn't. I don't want to sound perverted so I'll stop.
Long story short: she was different, a good kind of different, and she sure was gorgeous.
They both sit down. She smiles, "Hey." I can't find any words to say, her smile has stolen them all.
"H-Hey," I stutter, trying to give her a smile.
"Are you ok? You look like you swallowed a lemon," Nashi laughs, I missed her laugh, and, somehow, it brings me back to Earth.
"N-No," I laugh along. "I just feel like I'm staring at a ghost."
We stop laughing, and she pushes her bangs out of her eyes, "Same for me." But it's different, you left, I didn't.
"So," I slam my hands down onto the table, causing some cards to move. I ignore Ig's groans and continue, "Show me your magic!"
Igneel looks at me, as if to say "no." I don't see what's wrong.
"You missed my show?" Nashi asks.
"Huh?"
"The crowd," she uses her thumb to point behind her, where she stood minutes ago, "I showed the crowd. Geez, Storm, you would miss your best friends performance?"
My heart stings, she left me, I know she had a reason, but that doesn't mean we are still best friends. I let it go. "Yeah, sorry," I say rubbing the back of my head. Silence. "So, will you show me?"
She jumps slightly at my question, and slowly stands up. "Really?" She asks me, witha look of concern.
"Yes really," I don't see what's wrong. Igneel gives me the look again.
She furrows her eyebrows and says, "Ok, here goes."
Fire sprouts from her hands and she makes it turn into a ring around us. Her face is all scrunched up, like it's difficult for her to do the simple task. I've seen her do this when we were kids, when Natsu was still teaching all of the Dragneels the basics of fire magic. She went away for 7 years to come back and do this?
