Chapter 25
Marcus Pierce

To say fighting these rogue werewolves is no fun at all would be an understatement. Hell, we're a lot having fun fighting these devils. It's hundreds of rogues versus three powerful werewolves and it baffles me why they can't just turn their backs and run away. This time, seeing their stupidity – and I think they're claiming it as bravery – is just a laughing matter to me. That's so stupid and wrong. They tried to take my mate away from me, they failed. But me killing them, I will succeed.

Of course, Cloud is the first one to attack, growling so loud that it makes them take another step backwards. Their stance is in defense position, and nobody dares to move. They know that the Great Alpha can kill probably ten to fifteen of their kind in just a matter of five seconds. But when Cloud's claws slash on one of their kind, that's when they start to fight back. Perry and I come to our best friend's aid, jumping to his side and growling menacingly to the enemies. They pause for a moment before they begin to attack us again. Side by side, we fight these creatures while trying to protect each other. Perry snarls, bites one enemy on his leg and rips it off, which makes the rogue howl and curl in pain, falling down on the ground. He spits the blood out, showing his deadly fangs and I can see Cloud rolling his eyes.

These two always bicker. Though Cloud is the Alpha and Perry is just his Beta, they have a strong band. Usually in the other packs, Betas are basically followers of their Alphas, but Perry is different. He tends to disobey his Alpha, and not just any other Alpha, it's the Great Alpha. The Alpha of the Alphas. But even though Perry likes to disappoint his Cloud, Cloud never really gets angry. Me? I used to encourage Perry to do stuff and Cloud would just give me a stinky eye ad I'd just shrug it off. That's how it is for us. And it seems like nothing much has changed.

Cloud and Perry have like an infinite stamina as they take down the enemies. It's a mystery to me though that I'm fighting as well yet I observe a lot of stuff around me.

Thirty minutes later, the rogue werewolves have backed down. From hundreds, you can only count their numbers with your fingers. They snarl at us as they turn their backs. Their eyes tell us that they still want to fight but I guess they are having an inner conflict? I mean, we're basically the Big Three so it's understandable for that to happen.

"Well, I guess that's it," Cloud says as he switches to his human form, already wearing pants and shirts. Perry as well. "What happened? Why did they decide to attack? In fucking broad daylight? Whoever their leader is, has completely lost his mind. Seriously."

I remain silent for a minute before deciding to get my clothes to where I left them and wear it. Once I'm back, I tell them. "I think they knew... that I have a human mate." Perry purses his lips and Cloud scrunches up his nose. "They... I think they are trying to break me, to make an imbalance. And by doing that, they are going to destroy my spirit by taking my mate away from me."

"That doesn't make sense," Perry puts in, sighing out loud.

"Without me, werewolves... our kind is going to be weaker," I tell them, looking back and forth between my best friends. "And their forces will become strong. It does make sense. If you gotta take down the enemies, you have to make sure that whatever or whoever their defense is to make them stronger, you have to take them out. So they succeeded, the entire empire will collapse. You get what I mean? This is the only thing I could think of. If those enemies know that my mate is human, then I have to fucking act as fast as possible. My mate is at risk; he's in danger. And it's all my fault."

"Hey, hey," Cloud puts a hand on my shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. Perry looks at me with concern in his eyes. "What did I tell you? I told you that we'd protect your mate. I have yet to address this topic in our clan, trying to find another resolution without creating conflict. But you still have my support, and Perry, too. We're all in this together."

"Where is he anyway?" Perry asks, looking around the area. All we see is the dead bodies of the rogue werewolves we killed, all lying on the ground. Cold and blood all over their bodies.

"I found him with some rogue," Cloud almost snarls. His eyes narrow and he crosses his arms across his chest. "Your scent was all over him, so I knew it was your mate. But... how could you trust your mate to a rogue?"

And then I head to tell them what was really going on and how I met Blaine and how he's a different rogue than the others. They don't want to believe that a rogue couldn't change and was a total savage, but Perry tells us that it kind of makes sense since there is a demon and angels living in our home. I arch my brow at him and they both just shrug at me.

"So did you just... let them go?" I ask.

"Hell, no," Cloud furiously shakes his head. "I ain't gonna let a rogue bring your mate anywhere. The rogue just agreed to be taken to our home and I sent some of our strongest warriors to guide them. Just in case. And don't worry, nobody's going to know that your mate is human."

"How are you going to do that?" Perry pretends to inspect his nails, suddenly interested in it. His eyes go back and forth between me and Cloud. "Seriously. Werewolves have a strong sense. It's not going to fool them."

Then that's when my real fear begins. There's only Blaine keeping him safe, but home has an entire of warrior werewolves. They can easily bring them down, and once they know that Nigel is a human, then they are going to do something awful about it. My hands turn into a fist and I try to calm myself by taking a deep breath, but a lot of things are running inside my head. Images of my mate, of my Nigel, being in pain. I would never forgive myself if something bad happens to him. Whoever tries to hurt him, I'd fucking hurt them back tenfold. Cloud gives my shoulder another squeeze, making me look at him. In his eyes, they tell me that he's going to help me, that they are going to help me. And when someone messes with my mate, then they are definitely going to fight back. This is why I'm thankful to have them as my best friends. We are practically brothers. We understand each other. We love each other. We have a lot of something in common (well, we all have a male mate so that is obviously one of the common things we share).

We begin hearing police sirens. Someone must have called police already. Well, it took almost an hour for them to call. That or it just proves that the police are a lazy ass and just arrive when everything is already done. Before the police catch us, we decide to run and head back to our home as soon as possible. I can feel my mate is in danger. I can sense it from here, and that put me and my wolf in great anxiety.

After fifteen minutes of running, we finally reach home and I can feel my mate's fear from here. My eyes immediately do a quick scan of the area and I use my strong sense to locate where my mate is. Nigel is so near yet so far from me, and it feels like I'm helpless at all. Cloud growls in the direction of where the meetings are usually held and we run as fast as possible there. To be honest, I have never run so fast in my whole life. Never in my existence would I have thought that I'd do this. I thought I was... going to be lonely. I thought I was going to be mateless, but I hoped and wished and begged. And now that the Good Goddess has given me my soulmate, I'm not going to mess things up. Once we see the commotion going on in front of us, I immediately catch sight of my mate in the center, everybody surrounding him. There are also the Elders with their eyes trained deeply at my mate. I can practically the million thoughts running inside their head.

Nigel's expression can't be painted. He's scared shitless, and these werewolves are looking at him like he has done a great crime. They are glaring daggers at him. He's hiding behind Blaine, who keeps growling back at them. And this is why I became so thankful and grateful to be his friend.

Taking a deep breath, I run and jump as high as I can, and once I get in front, everyone takes a step backwards. I growl and my eyes glow blue, letting them know my power as the Guardian of the Werewolves.

"Leave my mate alone!" I say as Cloud and Perry get by my side.

And then that's when the uproar begins.

And right then and there, my mate has seen my glowing blue eyes.
