Company car?

"I refuse to join his company Kenya, I refuse to." Lucas spat at me after the recital in my dressing room. He was changing into blue skinny jeans and his champion sweater with air force ones on his feet.

"I understand Lucas but regardless of the horrible situation no other company has scouted us today we have no other choice." I said sighing as I ripped of my false eyelashes and sprayed makeup remover on my face, the amount of makeup...it was like a mask.

"Yuck all that gloop, how do you breathe?" he said diverting the subject.

"I don't." I replied quickly. "Please come with me you have to at least see the place. You have worked too hard for this. Only two other people in our open class got scouted Lucas... TWO. There's a hundred of us." I said sadly. "The fact of the matter is that this is our dream and we do have morals, we do but the way we danced out there... it was magical. My feet are living proof of the sacrifice we make every single day for our dreams." I showed him my feet which were angry and red.

"Fine. Two days, I'll give the company two days but I want to suss this guy out why would he even think of taking us on without see-" he began to rambke.

"Shhhh, Lucas we'll figure it out for now, lets pack our bags and go outside before he wakes up and changes his sorry mind." I said throwing leotards, tights, makeup and other items into my large suitcase.

My mind keeps replaying my dramatic fall. So many people commended me for adjusting the routine in such a "dynamic and expressive" manner. The audience really thought I had done it out of creativity and to some extent they were right.

The director who was taking me and Lucas on was the first to arrive behind stage when I had dropped. He simply told me to "get up" and it was his icy voice that shot through my spine and forced me to stand up. Fatigue and embarrassment bit at me from head to toe.

"Get ready you'll see a nurse when we arrive. Tell your boyfriend to prepare himself too." he said simply not even bothering to help me up.

A flood of tutus and tights ran up to me shortly after to help me up and congratulate me in my performance and my opportunity with the company. I held back scoffs and kisses of my teeth and instead wished them luck in their own futures and told them to keep in contact.

"I've zipped up all our baggage lets get out of here Kenya." Lucas said pushing me by the waist out the dressing room and handing me my luggage.

We reached the exiting door and looked for the car that the director had promised earlier, it was no where to be seen.

"Luke and Kenya!" a masculine voice cried out from the car park.

It was a driver... in a black jeep, one I hadn't seen before it was quite frankly one of the most beautiful designs I'd ever seen.

Lucas seemed to echo my appreciation for the car and blew out a soft but audible whistle before taking my hand and walking towards the driver.

"Yes, that's us although my name is Lucas. Not Luke." Lucas said.

"My deepest apologies sir, please take a seat with your lady." he said opening the passenger door and bowing his head slightly.

I scoffed. "I'll assure you Lucas ain't no sir and I ain't no lady but thank you kind driver, what is your name?"

"Malcom, lad- Kenya, the names Malcom."

"Well Malcom thank you for your extremely pleasant meeting, please take us to our destination safely I've danced me arse off tonight." I said giggling and pulling our luggage into the boot.

"Certainly la- Kenya." he responded before hopping into the drivers seat and driving away.

There was a dark window between the passengers and the driver - I guess for privacy reasons.

"Fancy!" Lucas exclaimed.

I agreed the whole car situation with a friendly driver, it was very fancy. I'm used to the monotonous "stand clear between the train and the platform" and here I was being called Lady and Lucas called Sir.

Despite my excitement an edge of fear still killed me. Lucas is right we need to suss out this guys intentions were they for the good of our future or for the worse?

At that thought I collapsed into Lucas' arms which opened up for me when I had requested.

"Thanks," I mumbled into his chest as I fell into deep, deep sleep.

Suddenly I awoke. My heart beat was fierce and my body wet from sweat... eww not a good look I thought to myself. I tried to open my eyes and make out my surroundings but my eyes were heavy barely allowing them to see even a pinch of light. I worked out pretty quickly that I was laying down on what I guessed was a nurses bed. I'd fainted a few times last year from over training and so the feeling was familiar. Had I fainted again?

"Hello Kenya. My name is Serena I'm a nurse here at David's dance company. If you can hear me make a noise or if you can lift your hand." she said in a cheery voice.

David's company? Company. Yes, Luke and I were headed to the company. David? That must be the directors name.

I tried to lift my hand. My efforts were successful and I managed to communicate how I was feeling to the nurse using numbers of fingers or small grunts that I could muster up.

"It appears to me Kenya that you are deeply fatigued. I understand that recently been under a lot of pressure to train for your recital today. What I'm going to recommend to you is first a foot salt and massage scrub which will help your feet regain some strength as they are pretty weak as of right now it contains healing herbs and Aloe Vera. I will also need you to take three days of rest that means no dancing, you can take light and short walks but for the majority of the day I'll need you sleeping and laying down. I am also going to be giving you some vitamins to keep up your energy and then when you are more rested I'll review both you and Lucas' diet to make sure its balanced and nutritious."

I simply grunted in response three days of no dance sounded horrific, I needed to train every day, work out every day if I wanted my dreams to become a reality.

Three soft knocks on what must've been the door to the nurses room were heard before someone came in, I smelled a vanilla scent and knew it was Lucas.

"Lucas." I managed to choke out and forced my eyelids open to see my best friend now in black joggers and a white tee.

"Kenya, I'm glad to see you can now open your eyes and talk. David wants to see us both before we sleep and so I've come to get you. I have already put your luggage in your bedroom and layed out some more comfortable clothes out on your bed. Let's go," he said sweetly.

Motioning towards the nurse he said, "Thank you Serena I'll make sure she rests and uses her foot salts and takes her vitamins have a good evening." before pulling me up with great strength and leading me to a bedroom, my bedroom.
