KENYA POV
It was about 45 minutes since I had returned from the gym, I had a nice bath and the muscles in my body relaxed. I hadn't seen Lucas but assumed he was bullied into doing something dance related with Mr Dorello. I was happy I would be on my feet tomorrow. I was pumping from the gym and realised I was only as weak as my mind said I was. Sitting down in my dressing room facing the mirror I began doing my makeup, I decided for something different. Today I wore a lot of highlighter so I was glittering like a disco ball and applied a matte dark lip because I felt so dark and brave after this morning. I did a little neutral eye makeup but nothing more than neutral and put on large hooped earrings. Eyelashes? No, I decided against them I hate having to think about whether they are falling off the whole day.
I wet my hair and revived the curls with a pudding (hair pudding) and brushed through them until they looked perfect I left my hair down and did a side part to cover a little bit of my face, I liked the mysterious feel. I thought of cooking and hadn't tried out the kitchen so I grabbed the map we were given of campus and used it to head to the supermarket.
I sent Lucas a quick message informing him of where I was just in case he got worried. I realised most people in the supermarket were dancers, some even in their leotards and I felt at home. Someone tapped my shoulder and so I turned around. It was a boy with dusty, blonde hair covering his eyelids but not his eyes. They were green and... wild? I was already amused by him, he seemed like a funny character.
"Hi my name is Liam West, please call me Liam." he said outstretching a hand for me to shake.
"Hello." I said sweetly whilst shaking his hand.
"I am from the green corridor on campus I do street dance. I finish in three years and have just joined. Unfortunately I haven't made any friends since I joined and well... you seem pretty and friendly." he laughed, reaching for green and red peppers and placing them in his basket.
"I see. Well, my name is Kenya Grace. Call me Kenya. I am in the same position but I guess I hadn't thought about making friends since I came here with my best friend Lucas. I guess since the opportunity has risen it'll be good too." I said grinning placing mushrooms in my basket. "I am in the... purple corridor" I said remembering. " I do ballet." I informed him like he had done.
"Ahhhh a technical dancer! Amazing, I wish I had the same discipline. Street dance is more expressional and doesn't have the same restrictions as ballet - I say this in a non negative way I danced ballet for a while until they chased me away when I started making my own version of everything and breaking into handstands and front flips mid turns" he said honestly whilst laughing.
I giggled, I liked Liam.
"I understand like you said it does require a lot more discipline than most dance but I love it! I see you have lots of fresh foods in your basket are you making something today?" I asked curious.
"Yes I am you see I am tired of eating microwaved burgers and apparently if I continue my organs are going to deteriorate that kinda woke me up so I am following a healthy recipe I remember from a Jamie Oliver episode I once watched on TV." he told me. "You can join me" he blurted out quickly before covering his mouth in shock.
I couldn't help but laugh! I wrote my number onto a piece of paper in my pocket and slid it into his hand. "Call me when you are ready, I'll be honoured to join you. I'll bring ingredients for dessert!" I added. His eyes lit up and we said our good byes. I felt happy to have met someone so refreshing and joyous after the cold exterior that director had been showing. Liam was bright and full of life.
I decided to call Lucas to tell him about it while I checked out my items. The phone rang only twice before he answered. I heard a girls voice say "is it that piece of trash again Lucas, I swear to God this is exactly why-" and Lucas cut her off and said "hey, you okay?"
