Nick stood at the alter, impatient. Their wedding day had arrived, and it seemed like time had stopped while waiting for Sarah to make her walk down the aisle. Finally, the music started, the guests stood, and Sarah appeared, on her father's arm, at the end of the aisle.
He sucked his breath in, seeing her in her dress for the first time. She was absolutely stunning. As she came closer, he lost control of his emotions. He teared up, as Jose, his best man, slapped him on the back, moving close to him to say "she's beautiful, manito". He didn't think it was possible for his smile to get any bigger.
Her smile matched his as she made her way to him. Guests flanked her on either side, snapping pictures and murmuring excitedly. She only took her eyes off his long enough to kiss her father on the cheek. Her dad shook hands with Nick before taking his seat in the front pew.
Sarah turned to hand her bouquet to Caro, squeezing her best friends hand, before turning back to Nick. She reached up to wipe the tear that had escaped his eye away, standing on her tip toes, to kiss him. As he moved forward to meet her lips, the crowd gasped "no!".
They both stopped abruptly, everyone bursting into laughter. She looked up at him, biting her lip, shaking her head. He raised an eyebrow, shooting her a warning look. She quickly released her lip. They grasped each other's hands, neither able to look away from the other.
She was more beautiful than he could have ever imagined. Her dress was classy but so sexy, clinging to her in all the right places. Her hair was piled in a bun, a veil pinned below it. She couldn't have picked a more perfect dress or look for this day. He kissed her hand. "You're beautiful, mami".
She smiled brightly at him. "I love you".
The priest led them through their vows, giving them each an opportunity to say something to the other. Sarah went first.
"I promise to be your lover, companion, and friend. Your partner in life, your ally in conflict, your biggest fan in anything and everything you do. I promise to cherish your triumphs and love you the most during your failures. I promise to keep you on your toes, even as we grow old, to follow you into the fire, if need be, and most importantly, I promise to try my best to not eat all the leftovers, saving some for you".
Nick laughed, heartily, before placing her hands over his heart. "From the moment we ended our first date to now, I've been waiting to marry you. Everything I thought I knew or was, you changed. I've stumbled along the way, but you never stopped loving me because of it. I'm still a work in progress, but knowing you are beside me, never loving me less because of my failures, I know I can accomplish everything I've ever dreamed of. Thank you for never giving up on me. I promised to never give up on us. Even if you do eat all the leftovers!".
Sarah's eyes shone bright with tears. She cradled his face in her hand, wanting so desperately to kiss him. He turned his face to kiss her palm. They then both looked at the priest expectantly.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, for the first time as husband and wife, Mr and Mrs. Rivera!"
Their guests stood, clapping. Sarah pulled away from Nick long enough to hug Caro and her bridesmaids, while he accepted congrats from his groomsmen. She took her bouquet back from Caro, her free hand sliding into Nick's. They stood for a moment, allowing for pictures. They kissed again, Nick picking her up off the ground in an embrace, before they walked down the aisle, as husband and wife. Once they had left the Santuary, door closed behind them, Nick pulled her in for another kiss.
"Don't ruin my hair" Sarah teased, wrapping her hand around the back of his head.
He squeezed a breast over her dress. "You're so stunning. I want to fuck you in this dress".
