First Date - Derek

(Did the 14 day valentine's day prompts)

We had always known each other since we grew up together. The day we decided to try the dating thing was the day he confided in me that he felt like he wouldn't find someone to grow old with.

For our first date Derek surprised me with an impromptu date. He wouldn't tell me where we were going but as we started driving I started to notice we were heading away from town.

When we reached the lookout, Derek grabbed the basket and blanket before exiting the car and opening the passenger side door for me.

To say the lookout held memories for us was an understatement, we came here for family picnics our families did together when we were children. We came here alot more as teenagers, it became our spot we would go to if one of us was sad.

He set the picnic blanket down near the edge of the cliff. Once everything was set up, I sat next to him and looked out over the town.

The date wasnt as awkward as I thought it might have been but it felt natural. At the end of the night he walked me to my front door and kissed my cheek goodnight.
