Chapter 2

Alex

I woke up a bit late this morning and looked at the beautiful woman next to me. I kissed her and got up to ready myself for the day ahead. As soon as I was ready to leave I wrote Kat a note. I got into the car and headed to my company. I inherited the company, Blade Enterprises, from my father months ago. It started out as another investment company and transformed into a billion dollar company that works in different areas. My job is to make it even larger.

I had a meeting with my father at 10 am, so I rushed to park the car inside the garage. Walking in, I nodded to the guard and a few others, then entered the elevator. I scanned my key card when I got to the 32nd door which allowed the elevator door to open. It was a security measure that only allowed few people with a key card to get to this floor. If you don't scan your key card in 30 seconds the elevator goes into lockdown and security are the only people able to get you out. All the employees know what happens and never have clicked on the 32nd button unless a security guard is present or they are with me. This precaution is very necessary to a company like this.

I walked out the elevator and to my office. My secretary, Olivia, was not at her desk, so I just went straight into my office. I found my dad sitting behind my desk going through my computer.

"What are you doing dad?" I asked annoyed.

"Why, that's no way to greet your father boy! How's that lovely wife of yours? When's the honeymoon?" He asked nosily.

"She's fine. We both have busy schedules, so in about a month or so."

"Well your mother says that you need to bring her to the house soon! She wants to see her daughter-in-law again. You haven't exactly been around much lately."

"Dad, I've been busy and she's been just as busy. Work has been killing us and we are still trying to plan a honeymoon that we should have had 3 weeks ago. Too many things have been going on around here." I felt bad that I haven't been able to give my wife the honeymoon she deserves. It's more my fault than it is hers that we can't go.

"I'm sorry son. It'll all work out. However, since we are on the topic of work, how has work been around here?"

"You tell me. I'm pretty sure that's what you were looking for on my computer." I commented getting annoyed again.

"Correct you are. Sit down we need to talk." His face got serious in a second.

"About what?"

"I went golfing with a friend of mine yesterday. His name is Bruce and he is one of many private government officials. He has informed me that the CIA plans to conduct an investigation around here. Mostly on you. Apparently they got some kind of tip that this company is involved with dirty money and terrorism, which completely shocked me. I mean what in the world could my son possibly be doing that is making this company dirty and I figured the best person to ask about what is going on is you. So, do you mind telling what the hell is going on that they would need to investigate in this company?" I watched him as he stayed completely calm and that notified me of the seriousness of the situation.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. This business has been in the best shape possible since I took over and nothing has changed! I have not involved this company with anything illegal and the only deals i've been making have to do with investments. So, tell the CIA to shove it up their asses because we haven't had any problems around here!" I tried speaking calmly, but I felt the anger showing.

"There's something going on here Alex. I can tell by the look in your eyes that you are hiding something from me and everyone that's a part of this company. So listen and listen well. Whatever you are doing better not be illegal otherwise this company will go through a lot of problems. I will make sure that if there is something going on and they find out, I will take control of the situation and make sure you are the only person going down for it. You may be my son, but thousands of people are apart of this company that most likely have done nothing and it wouldn't be fair to them to lose their jobs because of your idiotic doings."
