Kat~~~~~~~~

Johnny is a CIA board member. His legal name is Jonathan Michael Rales. He's 65 and married. He could be a sweet guy unless you got on his bad side, which I have accomplished many times. Johnny's strict and stubborn when necessary. He has a voice full of authority that no one would dare object to his demands. That is what makes him such a great influence in the agency.

He's been working with the CIA for 40 years and has been promoted pretty much every other year till he got to the top. He has many partners and usually none of them meet with CIA teams directly. When they put our team together, the first operatives were me, Leah, Selena, and Dylan. After our first few missions we caught the attention of Johnny. We had all been surprised to find out that Johnny would be our main source for ops because he was a "by the books" type of guy, and unfortunately for him we were nothing like that. So, now instead of talking to the people that manage the teams, we go directly to Johnny. It saves us a lot of trouble because the four of us occasionally did things recklessly, which sometimes got us into trouble. Johnny decided to bring in "level-headed" Jax a few years later, which has benefitted us because Jax came up with safer plans that got us shot at a bit less.

Johnny let his eyes wander to everyone at the table. When his eyes landed on Damien he smiled. "How are you doing, Damien?"

"Good, sir." I could tell Damien wanted the attention off of him.

"No need to call me sir. Johnny is fine." Damien nodded in response.

Johnny turned his head towards me. "Kat. I haven't seen you around lately."

"Been busy."

"With Alex I presume." My heart started to beat faster.

"Who better to spend time with than your significant other?"

"That is the one thing I'm proud of, Kat. You never hesitate or falter in your responses. Always so calm and collected." I could tell Johnny meant it, but now was not the time.

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Kat, I haven't read much of the file because I've been busy; however, from what I have read I know the answer to the question that's probably going through your mind."

I scoffed, "What could you possibly know about the thoughts in my mind right now?"

He softened his voice, which only made me angrier. "Kat, you can prove that he's innocent. His name came up in an untraceable, foreign account. We don't know who's account it is or what it's for, but it could all be a misunderstanding. We just need to verify that nothing illegal is going on.

"So what? Am I supposed to ask him or do you want me to treat it like "other ops" and spy on him like a hawk?"

"You know you cannot tell Alex about this. This is a different circumstance, yes. The routine to proceed, though, is as any other mission. Surveillance, etc." Johnny watched my reaction.

"I can't believe you are asking me to do this. Doesn't the FBI deal with illegal money stuff. Or the IRS. I feel like you aren't giving me the full story!"

Dylan spoke up, "Kat, you know we wouldn't ask if it wasn't necessary and we gave you all the facts. Think about it this way, by giving you this, you have the opportunity to prove that this is a mistake."

"You know very well, we aren't supposed to let you handle this anyways. You are personally attached to Alex and that affects decisions. I had to pull a lot of strings within the board to be able to give you the chance to control this situation, otherwise they would have given it to someone else and you wouldn't have even known." Johnny informed me.
