Ch.7 Back Story

Mandy's P.O.V
Once we all got inside mine and Val's place we all day down. "So is anyone gonna tell us what the bloody hell is going on?" Dan asked in frustration and I nodded "we're going to explain everything  but you have to be open minded and patient with us" I told them and both boys nodded once. "Okay" I began, taking a deep breath "some of what I told you about our past was true, but not all of it" I said, looking directly at Dan. "We're from New York, we lived in a small house with our parents, but we were born with abilities...powers that our parents helped us for years to control but-" I was cut off by Dan's sharp intake of breath as he quickly stood up "wait" he said in disbelief "powers? I'm sorry but I'm gonna need some proof" I nodded and put out my hand, using my telekinesis to pick up Dan's water bottle and give it to him. Dan's jaw dropped in shock "okay" he said, sitting back down "I believe you now" I smiled and continued the story "but one day while we were practicing control in the attic, there was a knock on the door" Val took my hand, hating the memory as I did. "Our dad opened the door, finding 3 government agents saying they were there for us" I took a shaky breath, wishing I didn't have to say this next part "Dad was always a horrible liar so of course the agents didn't believe him when he said they had the wrong house and started looking for us. We hid in the basement with our mom who told Val to cut the power using her electric manipulation so it would be harder to find us" Val held out the hand I wasn't holding and made the lights flicker. The boys both gasped in surprise "cool" Phil whispered and Val laughed a little as I went on. "But eventually" I sighed " the agents found us and our parents tried to fight them off after telling us to run but before we could get anywhere..." I took a shaky breath, holding back tears just as Val was. "What happened?" Dan asked, leaning forward in his spot on the couch "the agents shot mom in the head and dad in the heart" both boys gasped, Val and I leaned closer to together. "Before he died" I added, looking only at Val "dad told us to always protect each other, no matter what" I wiped a tear from my sisters cheek and smiled half heartedly at her. "What did the agents do with you?" Phil asked "they took us to a government facility, a lab that held others like us for experiments and observation." Dan's eyes went wide "how long?" He asked, looking hesitant, as if he was scared to know the answer "we were there for a year before I could absorb the power from all the other 'experiments' and it took Val and I both a lot of time to come up with a full proof escape plan" Dan looked confused "wait, what do you mean 'absorb their power'? Is that your ability?" He asked and I nodded. "If I touch someone with powers I'm able to absorb that power so it becomes mine" I explained then went in with the story. "Anyway, Val cut the lights to the whole facility,I used the access card I swiped to open the cages and we snuck outta that hell hole and here we are today, free and happy with our new life" I concluded, wiping my tear stained face again. "Your secret's sage with us" Dan said as he and Phil both stood up "yeah, you girls have been through hell and back and you're still happy, no one will know your secret" Phil said with a kind smile. "Thanks guys" Val and I said together as we stood up beside the boys. Suddenly Val gasped and turned to me "I have an idea!" She squealed. I gasped, knowing exactly what she was thinking. Dan waved his hands around, grabbing our attention again "Hey! Wonder twins! What are you talking about?" He asked and Phil nodded in agreement "yeah,what's your idea?" Val and I grinned at the confused boys "wanna see what we can do?" I asked and their eyes went huge "HELL YEAH" they yelled together and Val and I laughed. "It's play time sis!" I said and Val clapped her hands, bouncing up and down like a little kid "yay!!" She squealed. Oh this is gonna be fun!
