"Stilinski!"
Stiles snapped his head up from his desk, those medication pills were going to be the death of him. "Yeah?"
Mr. Levett, Stiles science teacher loomed in front of him, his eyes baring into him through his glasses. "Just because your father is the sheriff of this town doesn't mean you can sleep through my class. Mr. Hale needs a lab partner, and Ms. Argent has requested to be with mr. McCall, so you and Mr. Hale will be together, okay?" He asked as he walked away from Stiles desk and Derek sat down next to Stiles. His shirt seemed to be just a bit snug and Stiles quickly pulled out his science book to go the experiment they were going to be doing that day.
"Turn to page 364, today we're dissecting a cat!" Mr. Levett said as he started walking around the class placing boxes in front of everyone. "Inside you will find a cat, your job is to cut it open and, on the paper on top of your box label the nervous system while your partner labels the functions of the cats brain. You will find all the tools you need on the desk behind me, take your starter kit and let's get started!"
Stiles stood up and looked over at derek, "I'll go get the kit." He mumbled as he walked to the front and stood in line. Why couldn't he just act normal in front of him? Stiles was deep in his train of thought when Allison pulled him aside, "What is with you lately?" She asked as she pulled her hair up into a pony tail. "You seem extremely distracted.." Stiles shook his head and sighed. "It's Derek. Everywhere I turn he's there. I can't get him out of my mind."
Allison smiled, "Ask him out on a date." She said as she grabbed two starter kits and handed one to Stiles. "I can't just ask him out on a date, what if he says yes? Or worse yet no?!" Stiles exclaimed as they walked back to their seats. "You never know until you try." Allison said as s down. Stiles walked back to his seat and handed Derek the kit. "Do you want to do the brain or should I?" Derek asked as he pulled the cat out and started to get the kit put together. "I'm more comfortable with the nervous system." Stiles said. Derek nodded and looked over at Stiles and smiles, "I'll pick at his brain then."
As Stiles started to cut the cat open and look inside he glanced over at Derek as he opened the head and pulled out the brain to examine and cleared his throat. "Can I ask you a question?" Derek looked up from the brain and nodded, "Yeah, sure."
"Why did you move in with Scott? Don't you have other family to live with?"
Derek laughed, "Yeah I do. My cousin Danny is still around so I could live with him, but considering he's gay and I'm gay his family thinks we're going to sleep together so they won't let me stay there. So here I am." Stiles nodded and continued to do his work. Of course he's gay, the good looking ones usually were, and Stiles wasn't going to deny that Derek was extremely attractive, but he wasn't about to admit that.
"How do you know Scott?" Derek asked as stiles snapped out of his day dream. "Oh we have been friends since we were kids, I didn't have a lot of friends growing up, and after my mom passed away I had less because I was sad for awhile. Scott's the only one who stood beside me the whole time, and eventually I gained friends like Isaac, Lydia, and my step sister Allison." He shrugged and continued his work, "It's just nice to have friends who don't disappear you know?"
Derek nodded as they finished their work and started to pack up at the end of class. This was Stiles time to make his move, he just needed to stop being afraid.
He cleared his throat and scooted over next to Derek. "Hey man, a bunch of us are going to a bon fire tonight, you wanna come?"
Derek smiles and nodded "Yeah, that sounds like fun, what time?"
"It starts at seven, if you come to my place with Scott, he and Allison are going with me so we can all car pool."
Derek nodded, "Count me in."
