"Stiles! Stiles wake up!"

Stiles eyes flew open and he was immediately blinded by the lights on the ceiling. He was lying in a hospital bed, the unfortunately familiar sound of a heart monitor brought Stiles back down to earth. Why was he here?

He looked over to see Allison standing next to his hopsital bed, her eyes looking over Stiles body as he lied down in the bed. "What happened?" He asked as he ran a hand through his hair.

"You got knocked out at practice." She said as she fixed her hair. "The doctors are beginning to think you want to live here because you've been here twice already." She sat on the edge of the bed and took his hand.

Stiles sighed, of course he got knocked out at practice. His father was never going to let him coninue playing footabll after this. His father. Shit. Stiles looked around and didn't see his father or his step mother anywhere. "Where's mom and dad?" He asked.

"They left for a split second to go talk to Scott's mom. She's your nurse. And to go get Scott and Derek from the front His mom called them and told them what happened." Allison said.

The door opened and his father and step-mother walked in along with Scott and Derek. "Derek!" Stiles said as he opened his arms wide for a hug. "Hey!" Serek said as he walked over and kissed Stiles on the cheek and ugged him. "How are you feeling?" "Like a million bucks." Stiles said smiling. "How long have I been out?"

"Only a couple of hours." His father said. "Stiles we can't continue to let you play football anymore! First the arm and now this! We don't need to keep getting a call half way through the day saying our son is in the hospital!"

"Dad I understand. Just sign the release papers and we can go home." Stiles said.

The doctor walked in and shut the door behind him, the happy atmosphere disappearing. He smiled, "Now don't get all weird because I walk into the room." Right behind him was Scott's mom, and she walked over to Stiles and stood next to him. "How are you feeling Stiles?" The doctor asked as Scott's mom adjusted the needles sticking in his arms.

"Other than this headache I think i'm ready to go." Stiles said and Derek squeezed his hand. He was glad Derek was there, he didnt like going to the hospital and having his boyfriend there eased his worrying mind a bit.

"Well Stiles, we took a few x-rays to see how severe your concussion was. I have good news and bad news, which would you like to hear first?"

The atmosphere in the room shifted from curiosity to worry. Bad news? How could Stiles have bad news?

The last piece of bad news he had gotten was that his mother was dead.

"Good news." Stiles heard himself say. He rested his head on Derek's shoulder and waited.

"Stiles, you have a small concussion and you're going to be fine." The doctor said. He turned to Stiles and sighed, "So your family told me there was a time you lost a day when you woke up after a beach, and your sister told me that you have had a headache for awhile, is that correct?"

Stiles nodded and took Derek's hand. "Yeah that's right, why?"

The doctor nodded, "Stiles those symptoms can easily be explained. You have Frontal temporal dementia. Better known as FTD."

Stiles body stiffened and he looked at his dad. "I'm sorry maybe I didn't hear you correctly," his father said. "Did you just say my son has FTD?"

"How did he get FTD?" Allison asked as Scott took her hand.

"Yes I did." He looked towards Allison, "Unfortunately this isn't an uncommon thing among people in America, unfortunately it's gotten quite common in people. The key is early diagnosis." He looked at Stiles, "The only way you can get FTD is through a family member, it's a heraditary disease. Did you have a family member that had this?"
