"Johanna Penny!" the nurse called. She was at the doctor's office, Johanna Penny. She was here for her annual check up. This was her thirteen year old appointment. Her birthday was a few weeks ago and it's now time for her to get a physical. She's scheduled for a shot today, a painful shot, and she wasn't looking forward to it.

Johanna followed the nurse back to a little baby blue room with fish pictures all over the wall. She sat on the treatment table and looked at the nurse.

"Where is you parent?" the nurse asked.

"At my sister's football game," Johanna replied. "It's the last game of the season and she didn't want to miss it. Neither did my father and my grandparents are on a trip. No one could make it, but here I am."

The nurse then pulled out a clipboard. "Okay," she sighed. And on went the check up.

When the nurse was finished, she put everything away and started for the door. "I'll see you after Doctor Sanders checks you up to give you your injection," she told her with a smile. Then out she went.

Johanna closed her eyes and tried to calm her nerves so that she wouldn't be scared of the shot, but it wasn't really working. Johanna looked around and waited. This doctor always took ages to get here. She never knew why, she just always took a bit to get to Johanna. Johanna was prepared for this, so she brought a book with her.

The door then opened two minutes later. Johanna perked up. This is twenty minutes earlier than usual, she must be doing good, Johanna thought. Johanna put her book down and watched as a man came into the room. Johanna furrowed her brow and stared at him. This wasn't Doctor Sanders. He looked about 20-30 and had on a tannish tweed jacket with a light blue collared shirt and a red bow tie. He looked very quirky and weird.

"W-Who are you?" she stuttered.

The man smiled. "Look at you," he said with the goofiest smile. "You don't even know me yet. Aren't you adorable." He then sighed in awe. "Johanna Blair Penny."

Johanna started to breathe heavily. "H-How do you know my name?" she asked.

He just looked at her with the same smile as before. "That'll ruin the fun," he told her.

This really freaked her out. For all she knew, he's a kidnapper who wants to kidnap her. "W-Who are you?" she repeated as she backed up as far as she could against the wall.

"I am the Doctor," he replied. "I'm an alien from another world. I have a spaceship that is built from impossible technology, and we are going to be great friends at some point. It's hard to believe, but I'm from the future. I just saw you the other day. It's incredibly hard to believe because most humans can't wrap their brains around impossible things such as time travel, but I just saw you a few days ago. You though, haven't met me, yet. I could only have one trip to see you because it hurts too much, and I chose right here right now. And that's truly extraordinary.

"All I really wanted to say to you is, that I-" he paused mid sentence. His smile fell and you could see the tears bubbling in his eyes. He closed his eyes and smiled. The so called "Doctor" came over to Johanna and hugged her. Johanna thought maybe the man was just drunk, but his hug felt real. His hug was heartfelt, and the tears that streamed from his face to her shoulder were real. This crazed man was telling the truth.

"Johanna, I-" he stopped again. He may never get this sentence out. "I love you," he whispered to her.

Johanna, now trusting the man, felt very awkward. If he really was telling the truth, this man was obviously someone important in her future. Who was he? Husband? Boyfriend? Lover? Friend? The only way to truly find out would be to wait for the future to come.

The Doctor man pulled away from their hug and wiped his tears. "Sorry," he apologized. "I just really wish you were still traveling with me."

"I traveled with you? Or, sorry, I did travel with you?" she questioned correcting herself to pertain to him.

"It's complicated," he said.

"So, um, why did I stop traveling with you?" she asked.

The Doctor looked at her for a moment with sorrow. You could see the tears boiling up again. Then he spun around and clapped his hands together and bounced back to happiness. He then ran up to her and put his hands on either sides of where she was sitting. He then leaned his face straight up to hers. "All right, I shall see you again soon, Johanna Penny, but until then never stop believing," he instructed her. "I will come for you, you just have to believe. No matter how long it takes, I will come for you.

"But when you see me next time, I won't know you. Don't tell me about this meeting, okay? I will not know you, but we can meet again. This never happened, understand?" he asked. Johanna nodded. The Doctor smiled again and kissed her forehead. "You were one of the best companions I've ever had. Thank you, Miss Penny."

The Doctor then got up and walked out the door. Johanna didn't fully understand what just happened, but she really believed that he would come.

As she sat there, there was a knock on the window of the room. Johanna turned her head to the left and saw the Doctor outside the window waving. He then ran away and pointed to this big, blue police box outside. He opened the door and went inside. Johanna just stared at it. The box then flashed in and out then it vanished. Johanna believed, she was a believer.

Doctor Sanders then came into the room. "Okay, let's get this through then you can call your mum and you can go home," she said.

Johanna looked at her. She thought she was scheduled for an injection, but she didn't want to argue with that.

Doctor Sanders then finished her job and took Johanna out. "You know, you were supposed to have a shot, but apparently you've already had it," she said.

Johanna stopped walking and her heart stopped. The Doctor... but it couldn't have been. Johanna Penny, the Girl Who Believed.
