"Doctor," Johanna said one day, "just exactly what happened to all the other people who traveled with you? You've mentioned others, but can you just explain what happened to them all? How many were there?"
The Doctor looked at Johanna with this face she'd never seen before. It was a cross between sorrow, anger, and happy all at the same time. "I've had quite a few different travelers with me," he responded. "A bunch of things happen to them. They leave, get trapped, get captured, get turned into another species, and very few have... died."
"What about Amy and Rose?" she wondered.
He still looked at her with the same expression. The expression didn't sit well in Johanna's stomach. It made her feel uncomfortable. "Things," he responded. "That's it... things. Happened to them, all right?"
Johanna nodded and didn't ask any more questions. As the Doctor was putting in a new destination, the TARDIS started to aggressively shake. Then the doors opened and Johanna flew out of the ship and into oblivion.
