We arrive at the breach and see a bunch of other juniors from our school around a bonfire pit.

We meet up with them to find that some were in bathing suits and had already been in the ocean.

"Isn't it cold?" I ask Elle, who was my partner in physics.

"Yeah, but no one goes in the ocean for warmth." She said with a smile. "Who's that boy you brought?" She asked in a quieter voice.

"Liam." I answer uncomfortably. "He just enrolled into our school two days ago." I add.

"Is he yours?" Elle asks raising an eyebrow.

"No." I answer shortly. "We're friends." I tell her.

Elle raises her eyebrows once again and gives me that side eye.

The afternoon progresses and slowly falls into evening. Some of the guys start the bonfire up.

"Hey Andi," I hear the devil say himself. I turn around and see Jake, soaked in ocean water.

I roll my eyes and turn to have my back face him. I start to talk when I feel his breath down my neck.

"I was talking to you," His low voice growled.

I was about to turn back around when another voice came into the mix.

"Just leave her alone, man." I look and see Liam standing up from lighting the fire.

"Dude, relax, you're acting like I'm raping her." Jake chuckles. "I'm not." It was then did I smell traces of alcohol on his breath. The smell brought back so many unwanted memories that he was tied to.

"She obviously doesn't want to talk to you. So just leave her alone." Liam said calmly standing next to me.

Jake inched forward towards Liam, rocking back and forth on his feet. He couldn't even stand still.

"This is none of your business, new kid. I suggest that you go back to where you came from and let me handle it." Jake growled. His voice got low, and made my blood run cold.

"Stop. Both of you." I try to say. But in the situation my voice sounded as small as a mouse.

I look back and see everyone else crowded around the bonfire, they didn't know what was happening.

"You can't treat girls like that." I heard Liam say, however it didn't sound like him. He used a low and threatening tone.

"Watch me." Teased Jake. He was crystal clear, yet anyone could tell that his actions were driven by alcohol.

I could see the anger in Liam's eyes. I start to walk towards them before anything else happened.

However I was to late.

Liam started throwing his fists at Jake's face. And in return, Jake did the same.

"Stop," I scream trying to pull Liam from the situation, but it was no use.

I feel someone grab my arm and pull my from the scene. I look back and see Elise.

"What the hell?" She asks. I look back and see other guys pulling them off of each other. "What happened?" Elise then asked.

"Jake was being a douche, and Liam was telling him off," I trail with my eyes trying to navigate where they were.

I see the them now separated with people in between them. Jake had blood coming from his mouth and it looked like Liam had a black eye forming.

Elise goes up to Liam and pulls away from everybody.

"I think we should go." She announced. I agreed with her staring at Liam's eye.

"What the hell were you doing?" Elise then asks him as she started her car. "Getting in a fight?"

"He's was being an asshole." He muttered. "I wasn't just going to stand there." He added in a louder voice.

"Yeah, ok." Elise said sarcastically. "There's something called words that people seem to forget about."

She was very passionate on non violence. As one could tell.

Not that I wasn't, but I just couldn't help but feel like this was all my fault.

"What's your dad going to say?" I ask him after a couple minutes go by.

"That I'm an idiot because I'll tell him that I ran into a pole or something." He said looking at me.

"He'll believe that?" I then ask him.

"Sure." He breathes.

Elise pulls up to house. No ones home. God knows where my grandmother is, James had a night class, and I don't even want to think about where my dad was.

"I don't want to intrude, but can I stay with you for an hour or so?" Liam then asks me as I get out of the car.

"Umm.." I start to trail off. I wanted to trust that he's a good person, but right now, I don't know anymore. "Yeah, no ones home." I add, instantly regretting it.

Elise raises her eyebrows at me.

"No," I say quickly. "Not like that. I was just- never mind." I stutter as I get out of the car with Liam.

"See you Monday," sings Elise. I wave her goodbye as I make my way to the front door.

"Sorry, it's just that my dad doesn't get home till 7, and I don't have my own key yet." He explained.

"Yeah, no that's fine. It's just I don't know if I'm allowed to have guys over." I tell him unlocking the door. "But that doesn't matter anymore." I add as we walk in.

We walk to my room where I mentally slap myself for not keeping it clean.

"You can put your stuff anywhere." I tell him throwing my backpack off to the side.

He sets his stuff next to mine. I see him looking at the photo of my mom on my desk.

"This your mom?" He asks calmly.

"Yeah," I say with a smile creeping onto my face. My mom would've loved Liam.

"You look like her," he smiles still looking at the picture.

"Really?" I ask. I had light brown hair and hazel eyes, much like my dad. My mother had dark blond hair and blue eyes the sparkled.

"You guys have the same smile." He said.

I stare at her picture. "Thank you." I then say. It was a compliment to be compared to her.
