I stayed locked in my room laying on my bed in the silence. I heard the door click open and the footsteps of an unrecognizable man.
Muttering between James and my dad fill the silence. It ends with James quietly saying "you hurt her."
"Andi?" The soft voice of my dad rings through the door. I don't say anything in hopes that he would leave me alone.
"Andi, I'm sorry. I know it's hard to move on even when so much time has passed, but we have to. We came out here for that sole reason. We're not betraying...her by moving on, we're honoring her," My Dad says through the door.
I let his words sink in, and they make perfect sense to me. But the thing is is that I don't want them to make perfect sense. I wait until I hear his footsteps walk away when I decide to leave. I needed to leave.
I keep my door locked, open my window and jump out onto the sidewalk. I don't know where I'm going, but at least I know what I'm leaving behind. A mess.
I walk around the almost bare streets of California. However more lights started to appear as I got close the the heart of the city.
I come across an empty park. A peaceful park. I sit on the swing and rock back and forth finding the motion calming.
I close my eyes and let my mind clear itself when I hear footsteps crunch on the leaves. My eyes shoot open and I turn around to see a shadow near the large oak tree.
"Hello?" I call out towards the direction I heard it in. I get up from the swing and slowly walk towards the tree. I peel my head over to see Liam. With his back against the tree and his foot propped against the base.
"Liam?" I ask him.
"Sorry." He got off of the tree. "I just heard you coming and I didn't know what to do." He explained.
"Why are you here? I thought you were with your dad." I ask fully walking to the other side of the tree.
"I was. But now I'm not." He muttered under his breath not looking at me. "Besides why are you here?"
"Needed to clear my mind," I say honestly.
"Any specifics?" He asks still not looking at me. He was dragging a stick around in the dirt.
"Family stuff." I tell him quietly, also staring at him dragging a stick in the dirt.
He stopped and looked up at me. "Like what?" He asked bluntly.
I let out a small chuckle before saying, "it's private."
He nodded his head slightly before changing his focus back to the dirt.
I sit down on the grass next to him, as his dads words ring in my head. He has trouble making friends.
"What did my dad say to you?" Liam asks me after a couple moments pass by. "After you left the cafe," he added.
"He just wanted to introduce himself. He thought we were friends," I say now looking down at the dirt.
"So we're not friends," Liam smirks looking at me. I look up and meet with his stunning eyes.
"I guess it's not official if you didn't ask," I smile at him.
Liam laughs at my comment before saying in a very serious voice, "Andria...what's your full name?" He smiles.
"Andria Grace Lowry," I answer with a small laugh.
"Ok," Liam takes a breath. "Andria Grace Lowry, will you do me the honors of becoming my friend?"
"Sure." I laugh. "Now we can officially be friends." I say as he smiles back at me.
How could this boy have any trouble making friends?
