I still don't know what happened to James. Every time I try to ask Dad he just shakes his head and says "I don't know," then proceeds to tell me not to go and ask James myself.
So I didn't. But I did borrow dad's car to drive to Autumn's apartment one day after school. I ring the doorbell and her roommate answers.
"Is Autumn there?" I ask her.
"Yeah, but I don't think she wants company." She says.
"I asked if she was there. Not if she wanted company." I say lightly.
She sighs as she opens the door more. "She's in the first room to the left."
I walk slowly to the door, unsure of what to expect when I got inside. I knock lightly on the door.
"Autumn." I put my face close to the door. "It's Andi."
I hear shuffling on the other side. She opens the door and see someone in almost the exact same shape as James. Almost.
She was in sweats, and her hair was a knotted mess. The bags under her eyes were dark, and her lips were pressed to a thin line. But her eyes.
That was what differed from James. Her green eyes weren't really green. They were dark, just dark. As I looked into them, I could see how lost she was.
"What happened?" I breath. She stays silent as her eyes dark anywhere from mine. "Did you guys break up, because if that's what happened then I think-"
"No." She whispered. "We didn't break up. I think." She adds.
"Then what's wrong?" I then ask very confused. I was racking my brain for every possible thing, but nothing came to mind.
"I don't know if I can say." She says scrunching her eyebrows. I ignore her, as I knew that whatever came out of her mouth wouldn't be what I wanted to hear.
I look past her and into her room. Her bed was unmade and there was a pile of clothes right beside it. The blinds were closed, but the computer was on.
I couldn't see what she looked up but it looked as if it could be a health website.
"Are you sick," I then ask, as my eyes still search her room.
"No, I'm not. Andi I think it's best if you-"
I then saw it. It was sitting in the corner of her dresser just a foot away from the door. I feel my lower jaw drop as I stare fixedly at it.
Autumn turns around to look at what I'm looking at. She turns back to me with tears in her eyes.
"I don't know what to do." She cried softly.
"You're pregnant?" I gasp. I run my fingers through my hair.
She nods her head and her hand cupped her mouth. "I told James. And he freaked, and I don't know if I want to even have this baby." She rambled.
I really don't know what to say. Or do.
"Who knows?" I ask.
"Just Tara, James and now you." She said trying to collect herself. "We can't financially support this child. James and I talked about it last night, but it just turned into this big argument and it was just a waste of time."
"You need to talk to James." I then tell her. "And I'm not going to play messenger here. You need to talk to him." I tell her. It seemed like good advice.
She rubs her eyes before saying. "I know. I plan on going tomorrow."
I nod my head slightly before my phone started ringing. It was Liam. I turn off the ringer before leaving the apartment.
