Neil did not drive me to college, he had to do something and I had to walk. It took me 15 minutes.
I enter the classroom and spot my math teacher entering along with me. Everyone was talking, I did not grab anyone's attention as I sat next to Carly.
''Good morning, classroom, today I have something very important to tell you,'' Mrs. Duncan states, glaring at me ''Some of the students, I noticed, had low grades, and were inappropriate towards other students'' She says, taking the list from her desk.
''Those students are Alexandra Blackburn, Curtis Whitaker, Avery Wright, Chloe McCall, Allison Laura Hummington, Olivia Downs, Carly Sparks...'' She reads and we gasp.
What am I doing there? Yes, I have low grades but what did I do wrong?
''Each student will go to recess this summer, they will be parted to groups'' Mrs. Duncan states '' Alexandra Blackburn, Olivia Downs, Jeremy Farley and Allison Laura Hummington are to the group A, group A is on summer recess to Pine-wood Acres Farm, group B; Chloe McCall, Curtis Whitaker, Carly Sparks to summer recess in New York...'' She continues.
Carly grins and she bounces on her seat ''I am going to New York, what about you?'' She asks.
''On some stinky farm,''I huff.
''Oh'' She grins ''I can't wait to ask Tracy and Georgia''.
(...)
I sit on the bench in front of the college and wait for girls to arrive. When they do, they have happy faces and grins. And I have swollen, frowned face. They sit next to me.
''My God! I am going in summer to...Rome!" Tracy grins.
''I am off to Athens, but I don't understand why group A is going, just because of low grades and other shit like that'' Georgia says.
''Sadly, I am in group A,'' I mutter.
''WHAT?!'' Tracy and Georgia shout.
''Yes, unfortunate me. I don't know what I am going to do without you guys for so long'' They pull me into a hug and I smile briefly.
''Its fine, we are always there for you,'' Carly says with a smile and I nod. They were always there for me since I met them, I remember when we were young how we used to play together. I wish we can stay forever young. But nothing is perfect.
''When there is a flame someone's bound to get burned,'' I say and they nod.
''Always,'' Tracy says patting my shoulder. I get up and decide to go for a walk with girls. We all missed the lunch break, talking to teachers to exchange the places. It was worthless.
We go for a walk, but before that, we stop at the sweets shop. We order a milk-shake and leave. Leaving the promised money.
We walk by streets, laughing, talking and drinking our milkshakes. I am going to miss them so much!
Why do I have to go to the farm?
We all walk into my home, my parents wanted to have a meal together today. We get at lunchtime.
''Hello, girls. How was it in college?'' My mum asks.
We all nod.
''Good ma'am'' Carly grins.
We enter the dining room and I see Neil. ''Why the hell? I had to walk 15 minutes'' I groan and he chuckles.
We all sat together, we filled our stomachs with food, red wine, and my father cleared his throat.
''Today, teachers called us, they planned a summer recess. Students were parted in groups, group A is a group for low grades, and acts. My daughter was sorted into that group. I don't want to know what she did bad in college, but she was getting low grades. Group A will be sent to Pine-wood acres farm'' Mark says ''You better start packing, it is for 1 week, if you lost track of time''
Like hell I did.
I have a feeling if anyone else was in a situation like that would lose track of time. But not me.
''I will be off,'' I say, dusting off my jumper from crusts. I smile briefly before leaving the table and sigh. I climb up to my room and grab my suitcase.
I never knew that packing for the trip would be this hard and exhausting. When I say trip I hope you know I don't mean it, it is a freaky recess. Summer recess.
I roll more stuff in my suitcase and sigh as I finish. I have to take a break. I run out of my room and grab a glass of water from the kitchen. Water slides down my throat, I feel refreshed and ready to continue packing. I know it is for 1 week but I like to get ready before and after just enjoy my life while I can (till I go to the place).
(...)
I grab nothing but a piece of toast and cedar cheese for dinner. Leaving the dining room I shout them good nights and they don't reply. I roll my eyes and climb up my room. I change into my funny PJ's and lay in comfort.
I have a feeling I need to boost my ego.
