Adrian is a mystery that no one knows about. He is a secret that has been kept for a very long time. He was the son of Zues and one of his many affairs, no one know who his mother was but it is suspected that she was a human woman that Zues fell in love with. Adrian was the youngest of all of Zues' children had no special talent, he was not good at flying, hunting, or fighting. He was really very lazy and hated to be disturbed. He kept to himself and that is why he is not mentioned in any books or in stories past down from long ago. He preferred to play games and sleep rather than do anything. People didn't know who he was. Zues was unhappy with Adrian because he was so lazy, so one day during one of Adrian's many naps Zues decided to go and talk to his son.

'I am very disappointed in you, my son. You are given everything and yet you are selfish and rude to everyone.' Zues says. 'Why must you act this way? Why can't you be more like your siblings and make something of yourself?'

'I have no ambition to go out and help people or to be nice to anyone, Father. I prefer to stay here and enjoy myself.' Adrian replied.

'I have decided that since you have no ambitions that I will make some for you. From today onwards you are banished from this place. You will go down to earth and you must make a human girl fall in love with you. You may not say who you truly are and you will not have any of your godly powers. You will not have any special privileges, you will be a commoner. I have already chosen where you are to live and I have also chosen the girl who you must have fall in love with you. I warn you this girl is not easy. You will have a hard time just getting close to her. She has been hurt many times I the past and I expect you to treat her well.' Zues said.

'But Father I do not wish to be sent to live a normal life like a human. Why must I do this?' Adrian complained.

'Enough,' Zues roared. 'You will have 100 days to win this girl, if by the end of this time she still does not like you, you will be banished forever to live your entire life as a mortal human.' With that Adrian was cast from the heavens.

P.O.V. Vera

5:00 A.M. Myersville, Iowa

Vera opened her eyes and rolled over in bed. The sun was to bright this early in the morning, even so she knew she had to get up and start her daily chores. She gets up and gets dressed in a long-sleeved flannel shirt and her favorite blue jeans. She headed down stairs to start a pot of coffee before she put on her work boots and went to milk the one and only cow on the farm.

She never wanted to have to rely on anyone ever again. She grew and made all of her food. Most of her possessions came from things she had made or found.

It was the middle of March and had decided that today she would start to plow the field. It was going on 10:00 when she got the tractor out and headed for the field. She owned all of the land surrounding the house and so no one ever came close to her house. It was rumored that the place was haunted. Rural Iowans were very superstitious about these things.

As she rounded the bend in the road she saw a man passed out in the middle of the field. She quickly got down to make sure he was not hurt. As she looked closer she noticed he had jet black hair that fell over his eyes and wintery white skin. He looked very suspicious to her. What the hell was he doing out here? Did he pass out drunk or was here on a dare? As she contemplated the answer she saw him stir. She gave him a quick kick to the ribs to wake him up. "Why the hell are you on my land?" she screamed at him. When he didn't answer, she thought something was seriously wrong. She knelt down to feel for a pulse and as she did he grabbed her hand.

"Who are you?" He whispered and then passed out again.
