Chapter 3

P.O.V. Adrian

He heard her steady breathing from outside her door and decided that if he was going to do this now was the best time. He slowly turned the door handle just to find it was locked. He decided to just pick the lock. Once that was done he carefully opened the door to reveal her curled in a four-poster canopy bed. "No, no! Stay away from me." She mumbled in her sleep, she looked scared and was crying in her sleep. He slowly took a step towards her and sat on the edge of her bed. He carefully ran a finger along the tear streaks on her face. She moved slightly and he held his breath, till she gave a contented sigh and settled back into sleep. 'I wonder what she is dreaming? Mortals are so strange to even cry in their sleep,' he thought to himself. He stood up, now down to business. He walked over to her dresser and started going through her drawers. He needed to find out more about her, if he was going to be successful in wooing her. Something fell out of the drawer as he was rummaging around. He bent to pick it up, it was a picture. It looked to be Vera at a young age with a boy that looked a lot like her. On the back it read 'Vera and Dylan Anderson.' So this young boy must be her brother, he would have to be sure to ask about him sometime. He decided to leave because it was getting earlier and he didn't want to chance her waking up while he was still in there. He quietly shuts the door and goes back to his room.

P.O.V. Vera

She was running through the woods and something was chasing her. She could hear it getting closer and she could hear someone screaming, was that Dylan. "Dylan, where are you?" she yelled. She tripped and fell. She was bleeding everywhere but all she could think of was she had to get to Dylan. Something brushed her cheek and brought her out of her nightmare.

She checked her alarm clock and saw it was going on 5:00 A.M. She decided that she should just get up, wasn't like after that she would be able to go back to sleep. She got up and got dressed. She headed downstairs but stopped at the door. Hadn't she locked the door last night? Why wasn't it locked now? Her heart began to race, how could she forget to do something like that with a stranger in the house? She decided that it would be best to go check on him. As she walked to his room she realized that he didn't have any luggage. Wasn't that strange if he planned on staying for three months?

She knocked on his door, "I'm coming in," she yelled. He was still asleep. That would not due if he was going to stay here he would have to keep her hours. That is if he planned to eat. "Wake up. The sun has already risen and I need to go into town. Are you going to come with or plan on sleeping all day? Why don't you have any luggage?" she asked.

He sat up in bed, "Um, I..." he never even thought about luggage. What should he say. "The thing is on my way here I ran into these two gangster dudes and they were like we want your luggage," he tried to mimic their voices. "So since I didn't want to get into a fight I gave them everything I had and I had to hitch-hike here. I have no money or clothes," he came up with a quick excuse.

"Are you serious? That story sounds pretty far fetched but whatever get up and get ready. We leave in 10 minutes," With that she left the room.
