"So why stay! Let's get out of here!" Lexi smiled wide.

I smirked, "Her name is Elena."

"Karson, shut up." Stefan rolled his eyes, but eventually smiled.

"No, Karson, please continue!" Lexi teased, "Hopefully she's nothing like the last girl you went head over heals for."

"You didn't even know Katherine!" Stefan scoffed.

"Lucky!" I mumbled.

Lexi gave me a nudge, "Well, if I had, I would have kicked her ass!"

"Look, I have to be somewhere..." Stefan sighed, "Can you to stay here and try NOT to destroy everything?"

I scrunched my nose and looked to Lexi, "Not."

"Awesome, thanks!" Stefan stated, giving me a pat on the shoulder as he left.

Lexi let out a sigh and wrapped her arm across my shoulder. I couldn't help but smile, and eventually let out a laugh, "I'm glad you're back."

"So!" She smiled, plopping down onto the couch, "Any ladies for baby Salvatore?"

"Uh, no." I replied as I poured myself a drink, "Damon got to them first, as always."

"You boys and your inter-relations!"

"Hey, not my thing! I despised Katherine." I defended.

"Good, all of you in the same room." Damon smirked as he took the drink from my hand, "You all are going to the party tonight... I hope!"

"Why would we go anywhere with you?" Stefan questioned as he entered the room.

"Caroline is throwing it." Damon mocked, sending a look towards me.

I clenched my jaw, "What're you doing with Caroline?"

"Easy... your girlfriend is safe." Damon sighed, "We have to find a way to blend, okay? So... show face."

I scrunched my brows in thought and sent looks between Stefan and Lexi. She was all smiles, but I could tell that Stefan agreed with me. This could be a VERY bad idea.

"We're going!" Lexi demanded, "It's your birthday!"

"Two drinks please. You don't need to card us." Damon compelled the bartender, handing me a drink, "Cheers!"

I exhaled and took the shot before turning to Damon.

"Why are you here?" I scoffed, "This brotherly act... you can stop. You aren't fooling anyone."

"I fooled Caroline." He smirked.

I slammed the glass down and took a tight grip onto his wrist, causing pain, "Easy, brother. I don't share Stefan's diet... and you haven't been feeding. Which means I can rip your heart out. Stay away from Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline. Got it?"

Damon ripped his arm back and attempted to rub the pain away. "Funny, I can't tell if you're more like Stefan... or more like me."

I glared at him as he walked away. The rage was boiling over and I needed to cool down. I spotted Elena at one of the tables, obviously watching Stefan and Lexi. I smiled and joined her.

"You came! Stefan said you shot him down." I started.

"I'm scared." She admitted.

"But, you're here, Elena. Look at him! He's happy and smiling... rather human, don't you think?" I replied, handing her a drink, "Love will come out eventually. It'll be epic."

"You seem so sure."

"Well, I know Stefan... and I know love! So, yeah, I'm sure. Go talk to him!"

Elena rolled her eyes with a smile, but eventually made her way to Stefan. I couldn't help but smile when Stefan did. Not a moment later, Caroline joined me. By join, I mean she basically tripped into my body.

"I sl.... I slipped." she stuttered.

"Oh wow... you're plastered! Again." I laughed, holding her up on her feet.

"Am I shallow? I don't mean to be."

I raised my eyebrows in shock, "I'm sorry, Caroline. I don't know you well enough to answer that question."

"I can be deep! I wanna be deep..."

"You will be." I promised.

"No I won't!" She pouted, "I'm as shallow as a kiddy pool!"

I let out a breath, "Okay, let's get you home."

I swooped her into my arms, because she CLEARLY was unable to walk on her own. We made our way outside and I halted in my tracks. The one and only Sheriff Forbes. The SHERIFF... and I was holding her drunk daughter. You can imagine how BAD this looks. Instead of waiting for the awkward interaction, I sped off before she turned around.

I layed her down gently in bed and then slowly began to pull off her shoes. She made a noise and slightly opened her eyes, which locked onto mine.

"You gonna be okay?" I sighed, pulling the blankets over her.

"No..." Caroline groaned.

I let out a laugh and took a place beside her on the bed.

"I wish that life was... different." She said.

I sighed, looking at my ring, "Yeah... me too."

I looked back up to see her eyes closed. I stood to my feet slowly and began to walk away, but there was a sensation that grabbed my hand. Her hand. If you don't know... as a vampire, every touch is magnified just like our emotions. The moment she grabbed my hand, it was as though the world stopped. I turned to her slowly.

"Please, don't leave me alone." she begged.

I nodded as she scooted over to give me room. I took my place under the covers and she snuggled close to me as I wrapped my arm around her waist. We stayed there all night.
