Alex's POV:
Ah high school, how I hate you. Especially the first day of school. I walk through the doors slightly sweating from the walk here, it's still summer weather. I walk and wait in line to get my schedule. After about fifteen minutes I reached the front of the line.
"Hello, name please?" the lady asks.
"Alexander Hamilton" I say. I see her quickly type in 'A. Ham' and print out a schedule.
"Here you go hun." she says handing me my schedule.
"Thanks." I mumble taking it from her and walking away. I quickly scan over the classes I have. Free first, Honors Spanish second, APUSH third, and AP English last. I groan, I didn't even have to be at school this early. I have until nine to get to school. I sigh and wait in line to get my locker. Five minutes later a man hands me a paper with my locker number and combo. I decide to just go sit by my locker until my first class starts. I open my locker putting my school supplies away and pull out a notebook and pencil. I close my locker and sit down in front of it beginning to draw. I don't even notice what I'm drawing until it's done. I look at it and see, it's actually pretty good. I drew my mother. She is so pretty. I smile and make a mental note to give that to her later. I flip the page and start writing. I write about the lady at the front desk and how I'm going to love having a free first. I write until the bell rings for second. I sigh and open my locker putting a few things in my backpack before heading off to Spanish. I push open the door to the classroom and take a seat in the middle right where I hope the teacher won't really notice me. I pull out a notebook and pencil and wait for other students to come in. After the bell rings the class is halfway full. I sit and listen to all the welcome to school bullshit all teachers give you and take the syllabus rolling my eyes knowing full well my mother will sign it not really caring about what's on it. I put it in my notebook and start writing notes on the small lesson our teacher gives us.
The bell rings and I rush out of class and head to APUSH. I make it on time and take and take a seat waiting for other kids to arrive. Not too much time has passed before I look up and see what might be the most beautiful person on the planet across the room. How did I not notice him last year? He has the most beautiful golden eyes that I could lose myself in. He has brown curls and so many freckles. Wow, I have to get ahold of myself. I look down quickly and take another notebook and a pencil, the teacher takes attendance then introduces herself as Ms. Panini. She opens a slideshow presentation and tells us to take notes. I roll my eyes slightly but take notes anyway not really wanting to get in trouble. Especially not on the first day. I finish the notes and take her syllabus putting it away. Just then the lunch bell rings. I stand up and walk out of the classroom tiredly. Wow, it's only my first day and I'm already physically and emotionally drained.
I walk to my locker and switch out my notebooks for my next class. I now need to find a place to write. I smile after a few minutes knowing the perfect place to write, the turtle pond. I take my phone out plugging in my earbuds listening to music as I walk outside to the little pond that holds turtles. I sit down and take just a moment to look at them. They are so pretty, I watch as they move around the pond at a slow pace. I then take out my notebook and begin sketching a turtle. In the end it is not my best work, but it's okay. I close my sketchbook and see the boy from history. 'It's now or never Alexander' I swallow my pride and get up. I walk towards him to say hello.
"Hello," I say trying to be as cheery and friendly sounding as possible.
"Hi!," he jumps slightly
"I'm Alexander, I have history with you." I say nervously.
"Oh, I remember you. I have history with you too" he replies. Oh wow, he's kind of awkward. That's cute.
"So, what year are you in?"
"I'm a sophomore,"
"Cool, I'm a junior. You must be pretty smart to be in APUSH as a sophomore." I say laughing softly. Wow good going alex, you look like an idiot.
He chuckles a bit
"Thanks. I guess I am. I haven't seen you last year, where do you usually hang out?"
"I kind of hang out alone you know? I don't really have many friends." I say
"Oh, well if you want to hang out with my friends and I sometime you can" he says smiling. 'His smile is cute' I think 'shit shit shit Alex stop with those gay thoughts!'
"Yeah that would be nice, maybe sometime..." I say mumbling the last bit. Just then the bell rings. "I have to go, goodbye John" I say rubbing the back of my neck.
"Goodbye Alexander," He says smiling. God his smile is perfect, the way he says my name makes me melt inside. I quickly look down to hide my blush and hurry to English.
I sit at the first seat I see in my English class and wait for the class to start. After a few minutes the teacher shows us a seating chart and tells us to move. I sit and to my horror Thomas Jefferson sits next to me. 'This can't be right' I think quickly scanning over the seating chart again and much to my dismay it was true. I groan and sit back. "Hello Alex, long time no see" he says.
"Shut up Jefferson, that's Alexander to you." I retort already annoyed. Last year Thomas and I were a thing, but that ended when I found out he cheated on me. Let's just say I broke his nose...
"Woah there, calm down Lexy," He says with a smirk. 'Ugh I hate him so much right now'
"Shut up Thomas," I say. Lexy was a pet name he used on me last year, I don't know why but I guess I liked it.
"What? Is my baby Lexy getting mad?" he says pouting for a second then going back to his smirk.
"I said stop Thomas!" I yell. He looks shocked but rolls his eyes and stops bothering me. I don't even know what I saw in him last year, I was just really lonely and he was there. He treated me so nice, but in the end I guess he didn't care about me. I tune out the teacher as he does the 'Welcome Back To School' speech and hands out the syllabus. I shove the paper in my notebook and try to go back to tuning him out until I hear the word essay. I take the piece of paper with the prompt on it. This was the prompt: Choose the person you love the most and write about them. I don't care what it is about them but make it your best work. This essay is due at the end of the month
I have no idea who I'm going to write about but I will figure that out soon enough. The bell rings as I put my stuff in my bag. I hurry and leave the class before Thomas has a chance to talk to me. I walk straight to my locker and pull out only the things I need for homework and heading out of the school to go home. Ugh what a long first day.
