This is an old story idea of mine that I am not planning on continuing (because I have already seen quite a few of these stories around, so I doubt that I would be able to do anything really new with this theme) - although writing little Jay is so much fun!

Be careful what you wish for

"Goodnight, everyone." Nya called to her teammates, as she started to drag her boyfriend up the stairs to the first floor of the Temple of Airjitzu.

The Ninja had just returned home from a reception at the city hall in honour of Ninjago' six beloved heroes. And some of them may have had a little bit too much to drink...

As soon as she had opened the door to their shared bedroom on the first floor, Jay stumbled towards the double bed and fell flat onto the mattress.

"I've missed you." He hugged his pillow.

"You are so funny when you are drunk." Nya giggled.

Jay turned onto his back. "Does that mean I'm not funny all the time?" He pouted playfully. "And it's not my fault that I had to take care of all your drinks as well."

"I'd say it is a little bit your fault that I can't drink." His girlfriend retorted. "But I really don't think we can keep it secret from the public for too much longer." She remarked, critically looking at her reflection in the full-length mirror.

Even though she had chosen a loose fitting sea blue dress, the small bump on her lower stomach was clearly visible.

Jay rolled out of the bed and unsteadily walked over to his girlfriend. Resting his head on Nya's shoulder, he wrapped his arms around her from behind and gently placed his hands onto her swollen stomach.

"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" He asked.

Nya turned in his embrace. "You tell me all the time but I still love hearing it."

"And I love you." He wanted to kiss her, but Nya turned her head away.

"Ugh, you smell of alcohol." She complained. "Baby does not like it."

"I am sure she will be as strong and beautiful as her mother."

"We still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. I don't mind, as long as he or she will be as cute and funny as you."

Pulling Nya with him, Jay walked backwards and he plopped down back on the bed.

"I actually hope the baby won't be too much like me." He ran his fingers through her black hair. "I was not a very easy child. I was always full of energy and kept my parents busy... ask my mum."

"Hun, I don't want to disappoint you but this is not much of a surprise to me; I knew what I was getting myself into." Nya pecked his cheek before standing up. "I'm gonna go brush my teeth, try not to fall asleep in your good clothes, okay?"

When Nya returned from the bathroom, Jay was already fast asleep. He had somehow managed to take off his jacket, shirt and trousers – they were crumpled in a pile on a floor – and was sleeping in his undershirt and boxers, snoring cutely.

Nya climbed into their shared bed and snuggled into his side. "Goodnight, honey." She told him, closing her eyes. "I still wish I could have seen you as a child."

Just as she was drifting she drifted off to sleep, Nya heard a familiar silky voice – a voice she had hoped never to hear again.

"Your wish is yours to keep."

——-

The next morning, Nya was awakened by the shaking movement of her bed.

Still half asleep, the Water Ninja wondered whether the Bounty might have gotten into a storm during the night. But usually, the Ninja would ask her (or sometimes Jay) to pilot the ship through any difficult situation, and the Lightning Master surely was not in the state to fly. So, as nobody had woken her up, this was not a likely scenario. Especially as Nya finally remembered that they were now living in a floating temple rather than on a flying ship.

So, why was her bed shaking and making her feel rather nauseous?

Nya turned onto her side, expecting to find a hungover boyfriend still fast asleep. But in his place, there was a little boy of about three or four years excitedly jumping on the mattress.

"Hey." He flashed her a toothy smile. "You awake. Good, 'twas about time. I been awake for t'ree hours. Maybe even five." He held up four fingers.

"Ugh, could you please stop that?" Nya groaned. The shaking of the bed in combination with this new development was getting too much for her head and her stomach to bear.

"But I'm bo'ed." He complained but stopped bouncing nonetheless. With his big sapphire orbs, he curiously looked at the blacked haired young woman next to him. "You are vewy pwetty. What's your name? Do you like bwoo?"

"I do." She replied with a little smile. "And my name is Nya."

"Nya." He smiled back. "Nice name."

"And who are you?" She wanted to know. "And, where is Jay?"

"I'm Jay. How d'you know my name?" The boy wanted to know.

"Huh?" Is this a prank? Nya wondered.

But taking a close look at the skinny child who was dressed in a way too big white undershirt and blue boxers, she noticed that he had indeed a striking resemblance to her boyfriend. He had the same messy auburn hair, the same cute freckles on his cheeks, the same deep blue eyes, and even the little scar in his right eyebrow had exactly the same shape.

Trying to process what could have happened, she suddenly remembered the silky voice she had heard before falling asleep.

And although the bed had finally ceased shaking, she suddenly felt another wave of nausea overtake her.

Nya jumped up from the bed dashed to the bathroom. As she was leaning over the toilet, she could hear footsteps entering the room behind her.

Someone held her hair back and gently rubbed her back while she emptied the contents of her stomach. "I though you were finally past that stage." Kai's voice remarked.

"I thought so too." Nya grumbled and flushed the toilet. She got up, with her brother's assistance, and turned on the sink to rinse her mouth and splash some cold water at her face.

"Thank you." She smiled weakly at the red Ninja.

"No problem, sis." He grinned. "I was sure that Jay would not be able to support you today. I'm actually surprised that he wasn't the one puking this morning..."

Speaking of Jay...

"He' name's Nya." A voice came from the doorway. Nya and Kai turned around and found the young boy staring at them. "Is she sick?" He wanted to know. "My mum make me tea an' mashed banana when I'm sick. Tea is yucky, but I like banana. Do you like banana?"

"Who's that?" Kai turned to his sister, ignoring the chattering child. "I didn't know Jay had a little brother or cousin."

"This is Jay." Nya muttered.

"What? That bastard already has a child and he's never told us?" Kai was furious. "I can't believe I trusted him with you and even gave him my bl..."

"No. This. Is. Jay." Nya repeated. "I made a wish to see him as a young child, and somehow..." She avoided mentioning the silky voice she had heard, for her and Jay had never told their friends about Nadakhan. "...my wish has come true."
