Grace woke up that morning feeling hungry and tired. She absolutely hated school and really didn't see the point of it. She was always made fun of because of her weight. She was only 17 years old and going onto her last year of high school.
She didn't mind all the learning, or the teachers. She just hated the football players and their clingy tiny girlfriends. Especially Luke Hemmings. Grace and luke we're best friends since kindergarten but as soon as people started to make fun of her for her weight in middle school, Luke left her. He didn't want a bad reputation for the rest of his school years because of her. At first Grace cried almost every night because she didn't have anyone else, but now she has her best friend Michael. Who also by the way, is very gay.
Michael and Grace always walk to school together because Michael says it's good "exercise" but Grace doesn't care what she looks like, she loves who she is and doesn't care what people really think of her.
As soon as Grace walked out of her door Michael ran over to her and said, "Grace, looking lovely as always." He reminds her every single day that he loves her and that she's beautiful the way she is. Michael is a way better friend then Luke ever was. They both know that.
As they walked into the school they could easily spot the football crew leaning against the lockers on their phones. Luke was looking down on his phone probably looking at all the nudes he got the day before until he saw Grace walked in. He always made fun of her weight and how she would "never get a boyfriend" but he always felt bad after. The real reason he did it was because he just wants to be popular. He knows that's what he needs to do to get people to think he's "cool."
"Hey ever thought about loosing some weight?" "How much do you even eat?" "I'd rather kill myself than to have sex with you!" (I actually heard this in the hallway one day and I honestly almost slapped him I was so mad)
Those were things Luke would yell at her as she walked down the hall with Michael clutching onto his hands. Deep down it did hurt Grace, but she would never let it get to her.
