The castle was completely silent, not a single noise to be heard, as it was late in the evening and everyone inside was beginning to settle down.
The door to your bedroom slowly opened, a single almost soundless click following after you twisted the knob, pulling the door open with the utmost caution. Tugging on the hood of the red cloak covering your form, you stuck your head out of the crack in the door. Your vigilant eyes scanned up and down the long corridor, making sure no one was standing outside. You made no efforts to step out of your room until you were certain no one was around.
Once you determined the coast was clear, you stepped into the hall, cautiously closing the door behind you and sneaking downstairs. It seemed that no one was lingering nearby, so you took the opportunity to slip out the front entrance unnoticed before any castle staff had the chance to walk by.Your feet began to move faster as you quickened your pace, your excitement rising with the increasing speed of your footsteps, looking forward to visiting the small town that sat at the foot of the hill your home sat upon.
Sneaking out after dark was something you'd made a habit of for quite some time now. Your parents would absolutely kill you if they found out about your late-night escapades. They say it's not safe for you to go into town by yourself on account of your regal title, but you didn't want to make a grand entrance being surrounded by bodyguards and fancy flags with the castle's crest on it, you wanted to go out alone and feel normal.Once you got into down, you removed your hood and shook your hair out before heading directly to one of your favorite boutiques.
"Y/n!" Your name was called out in a cheery and pleasantly surprised tone as soon as you stepped foot through the entrance.
Glancing up, you found the owner of the voice was none other than your friend and proprietress of the shop, Rosé. She was smoothing out an outfit displayed on a mannequin with a bright smile on her face and a friendly gleam in her eye.
"You're back."
"I am. Sorry it's been longer than I intended. Things have been hectic at the castle." You huffed.
"I understand completely. I'm just happy to see you again."
Rosé is someone you've been close with since you first stepped foot in the store. She was a close friend and a confidant, someone you could talk to when royal life got too overbearing. She knew just about everything.
"I'm assuming you snuck out again?" Her inquiry was accompanied by an amused expression.
"What do you think?" You chuckled.
She shook her head, laughing along with you
"I could never do what you do."
"I didn't think I could either, but I've been doing it for so long I've gotten used to it." You responded while sifting through a rack of blouses. "These look new." You commented.
"They are. I just got them in yesterday. They're for the new fall line."
By the time she finished responding, you had already grabbed a couple blouses and had them tossed over your arm.
"You always have the best clothes here."
"What can I say? I work with the best designers in the business. I receive so many requests from designers who want to sell their clothes here, but if I don't like what they've got, I won't sell it."
"You sound like a tough owner."
"I'm just very specific about what gets sold here." She shrugged, straightening out some shoes on a shelf.
