Sorry for not posting in a while, I've had some pretty bad writer's block and stupid school got in the way. I'm gonna try to make my chapters in this story (and other future stories) shorter. I've also have not been feeling very well this past couple of weeks so, yeah. Summer is here though! Having said that, enjoy this chapter!
Tom's POV:
"Tom? What are you doing here?" (Y/n) asked, confusion overwhelming her.
"Well, I got to go. I'm, uh, gonna be late to pick my grandmother up from the airport. See ya all later! Bye!" Abbi said, rushing out of the barn, but I grabbed her before she could fully leave. She gave me a look that said 'why do I have to stay, it's your fault for getting caught!' and I just rolled my eyes and kept her at my side.
"Who are you?" Clayton asked, a bit of annoyance in his voice.
"Me? Let's just say I'm not someone you want to mess with." I said, slowly walking towards him. If this turns into a fight, this will be, what, the fourth fight I have been in while being with (Y/n)? That is a lot of fights (but seriously though, Idk why I keep writing him getting into some sort of fight xD habit I guess). I looked at (Y/n), who probably knew what was about to come. She thought I was about to get into some sort of fight but I'm hoping I can prevent that from happening. If I can.
"Tom, what are you doing here?" (Y/n) asked again, jumping off the horse and walking towards me. Arms folded in front of her.
"Oh, um, we'll talk about that later. It's more of a conversation we should have between just us." I said, looking into her eyes that were filled with so many different emotions. I wanted to just pick her up and take her home right now and tell her everything but there was one thing I needed to do before that could happen. I walked past (Y/n) and stood right in front of Clayton, who had jumped off the horse soon after (Y/n) did. We stood in front of each other, glaring daggers at each other. He was about 2-3 feet taller than me. I was 5'8 while he looked to be about 6'1 or 6'2. Either way, he was much bigger than me. But my love for (Y/n) was much bigger than his arms and height ever could be.
"So what now shortcake? We gonna fight now? I can take you anytime, anywhere." Clayton crossed his arms in front of his chest and flashed an evil smirk. They always say things like that just to make them seem tougher than they are. It's never worked on me.
"Yeah, we'll fight. But not the kind you're thinking of. I'm thinking of something much more challenging. Something with more rules." I smirked back up at Clayton, knowing that he and everyone around us were a bit confused at what I'm suggesting.
"Challenging for you, you mean. I can do anything you can do." He said, which is another thing they say all the time.
"Anything you can do, I can do better. With more confidence and pride." I looked at (Y/n), who looked at me with her brows knitted together in deep confusion.
Clayton looked at me then looked at everyone else in the room. He cleared his throat before speaking. "What exactly are you proposing, bite-size?"
I looked at the horses around us and back at Clayton. "Two laps around the field. If I win, I bring (Y/n) home with me and you never talk to her again. But if you win, she stays with you and I never see her again. With one exception. We each pick the horse of our choosing. Deal?" I held out my hand for him to shake. He just looked at it for a second and looked at Camille, who shrugged her shoulders.
Then, all he did was laugh and took a step backward, my hand still up in the air. "Ha, you don't even know how to ride. I'd win easily riding with you. You're just setting yourself up for failure."
