Chapter Twenty One:
"Why, again, are we supposed to be staying here even though rehearsals finished half an hour ago?" Ely posses to the group while we all sit in our dressing room, trying to fight off the growing nerves in the pits of our stomachs. Tomorrow was opening night, meaning that this could be the make or break of us as a band. Leo had been giving us a lot of hope which was always helpful too.
"Something about a meeting, I think." Noah answers, I could see in his eyes that he was fighting off a smile. To put it in the simplest of terms, we were all trying to fight off our excitement.
"Honestly, who cares why we have to stay late? It's not as if I was going to sleep much tonight." Ryan adds in, all of us nodding our heads in agreement.
"I know." I mention, feeling like I should speak instead of replaying Landon and I's duet in my head for the millionth time. "It's hard to believe that tomorrows opening night."
"Are you kidding me?" Noah asks in disbelief. "It's even hard to believe that we are sitting in this dressing room right now. It still feels like we should be performing at open mic nights and birthday parties."
"Do you guys remember that one gig? When the girl was pissed because we weren't who her parents had told her we would be." Ely laughs, my mind flashing to the memory I had of the spoiled girl who flipped a plastic chair whilst she gave her parents an earful.
"I thought that what happened was that the band who was supposed to play cancelled, and her parents assumed that she wouldn't notice that we were the replacements." Ryan corrects, only making us laugh to ultimate proportions.
"I think you are right..." Noah pitches in, his chuckles missing together with his words.
"Or the one open mic night where a group of very drunk bachelors or something booed us because we were 'killing their night.' " I recall, remembering the terrible feeling that night when the manager had kindly asked us to never return to the place to perform.
"That was awful." Ely sniggers. "If only he could see us now." He states. A short period of silence follows as we all look back on our very extensive list of terrible performances.
"Guys." Noah interjects, completely interrupting the silence. "We are going on summer tour tomorrow."
His voice portrays the absolute excitement that has been radiating off of the four of us since we started on that first day a little over a month ago.
By the time our little reminiscing/moment of glee has ended, Leo along with all of the other bands are barging into our dressing room to announce that it is time for our 'meeting.' Although, by the looks on their faces, I can't help but feel that something much bigger is going on.
"What do you think they have planned?" Noah whispers into my ear whilst we walk side-by-side down the hallway to the side door of the arena.
"I am gonna go with some weird and extensive initiation process, like the ones that you see in every Hollywood movie about college. What were you thinking?" I whisper back, waiting to see what elaborate scheme Noah was thinking could be going on.
"That is definitely a possibility. However, I was thinking more of a complicated and intricate celebratory party. The type of thing that only really popular and cool celebrities get invited too. Sort of a... welcome to Hollywood, if you will." Noah remarks, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"That's what you are hoping for, aren't you?" I snicker.
"Heck yeah." He exclaims, his voice just a tad louder than our previous whispers. We are immediately the subjects of everyone's eyes but that doesn't even faze Noah as we finally reach the door. "Who are you riding with?"
