Captain Randhir Singh Shekhawat was awarded Kirti Chakra, posthumously, for his bravery, courage and leadership qualities.Sanyuka received the award along with her child.She opened the certificate which read the following words.
“Captain Randhir Singh Shekhawat took part in boldly led attacks during the intrusion across border in Samba district, forcing intruders with heavy losses. Fearlessly assaulting the enemy, he gunned down four militants in the base camp attack. He was injured on shoulder and chest while taking down the assault. In the process, he also saved another officer. The Officer, however, succumbed to his injuries
Captain Randhir Singh Shekhawat, thus displayed most conscious bravery, indomitable courage and outstanding leadership and devotion to duty and made supreme sacrifice in the highest tradition of Indian Army
