70~ I Trust You

Ramsen suggested Dr. Malthi as she was very good doctor and he knew her personally. Eshaan agreed. They met the middle-aged doctor, she had a warm smile and assured him everything will be all right. Eshaan nodded. When he looked at Monica lying on the stretcher he felt his heart drop. He kept making silent prayers that everything should be all right. Dr. Malthi sprinkled some water on her face and Monica's eyes flickered open. She looked dazed.

'Where am I?' She sounded lost.

'Monica.' Eshaan called softly and held her hand. She turned her head and looked at him.

'What-what happened, Eshaan?' She asked blinking cluelessly at him. Eshaan caressed her forehead lovingly.

'You fainted but don't worry we are at the hospital.' He said lovingly. Monica gulped and nodded. She was about to sit but winced and Eshaan held her shoulder. He insisted she lie-down. Monica doesn't protest much.

'Mr. Ranawat, we need to do some tests on Miss. Rai, then we can find out what happened to her.' Dr. Malthi said politely. Eshaan nodded but Monica protested. He held her hand and assured her that he was with her and nothing will happen. After some time spent in coaxing, Monica agreed to the tests.

'Thanks, Eshaan,' – She hugged him by his waist, - 'For being there for me.' She said. Eshaan smiled wrapping his arms around her. She smiled closing her eyes.

One hour later, Monica and Eshaan were called in the cabin. Together they walked in. Dr. Malthi was busy reading the reports. Eshaan cleared his throat and she looked up at them. She smiled gesturing them to take the seat in front of her. Seeing her reaction, both Eshaan and Monica were relieved. As they sat, Dr. Malthi closed the file and placed it on the table. She sighed leaning forward and joining her fingers together. Her gaze darted from Eshaan to Monica, and her gaze stopped on Monica.

'Miss. Rai?'

'Hmm.' Monica replied shifting in her seat, she placed her palm on the table.

Malthi smiled and picked up the file, - 'Congrats, Miss. Rai,' – She forwarded her the file, - 'You are pregnant.'

'What?' Both said in unison. Monica paused with her hand in the air, Eshaan's eyes widened. Malthi frowned looking at their reaction.

'It's Mr. Ranawat's baby, right?' She eyed them. Before Eshaan could answer, Monica replied instantly.

'Yes.' She sounded confident. Eshaan turned his head and continued to gape at her. Slowly, she looked at him. The slight doubt in his eyes, hurt her heart and so she looked away. She gulped softly and blinked her eyes.

'Doctor, I want to do DNA test of my child.' She said. Eshaan was stunned even more.

'But the fetus is very-'

'No need for the test.' - Eshaan interrupted the doctor, Monica looked at him, - 'I know it is my baby.' He said confidently. A small smile appeared on Monica's face. He extended his hand and held her hand under the table. She looked away and blinked her tears.

Outside the doctor's cabin, Eshaan doesn't let go of her hand instead he held her palm tighter. She looked at him and he looked back. He smiled, and she hesitatingly smiled.

'Eshaan?' – She began uncertainty, - 'You are okay with the baby?' -She turned to face him and held his other hand as well, - 'I swear it is yours.' She said seriously. Eshaan smiled and held her face with one hand.

'I know, Monica,' – He leaned and kissed her forehead, - 'You made me very happy, today.' He smiled and hugged her. Monica smiled and closed her eyes. She held his back tightly and clung to him.

At first, Eshaan had a tinge bit of doubt but when Monica confidently asked for the DNA test he felt guilty. He recollected that one time they had unprotected sex, she must have conceived then. Then, realization dawned on him – He is going to be a father. The thought made his heart jump with joy. He felt elated. They parted and Eshaan cupped her face. They smiled through their tears. He leaned and kissed her forehead. Monica closed her eyes, her smile widening.
