12:00 a.m.
She calls.
Her: I love how you called at midnight
Him: Pretty sure I needed to.
Her: Actually, you did.
Him: Why?
Her: Can't tell you.
Him: Whatever. I guess it's kind of like tradition.
Her: Whatever you want to call it.
Him: Anyway, I actually wanted to help you this time. That's why I called
Her: Are you actually going to listen?
Him: Of course! All ears, sergeant!
Her: Your such an idiot.
Him: I'm a listening idiot
Her: Whatever, idiot. So uh, he's like my childhood friend and I just realized that I really really like him.
Him: ...
Her: Luke?
Him: Oh yea. Um, that's great!
Her: Well I guess, but the problem is he has a girlfriend.
Him: Shit.
Her: Wow. You're so good at this. Note the sarcasm.
Him: Sorry! I don't normally talk about these things!
Her: Don't be afraid of saying the wrong thing, it's not like I'll ever talk to you in person anyway.
Him: Yeah...
Her: Don't sound so sad.
Him: I'll try.
Her: Good. Well, back to the problem at hand. I don't want to get in the way of their relationship. I don't want to ruin our friendship. But I can't just sit there anymore and stay silent. I hate it. It's so stupid. I just want to tell him how I feel without it seeming like I want to ruin their relationship.
Him: So you don't want to get together with him?
Her: I just want him to be happy. I don't want him to feel as if he needs to be with me, just because I've always been a support to him. So, yes I would like to, but only if that's what makes him the happiest. If I don't then I'd rather have him stay with her.
Him: But you do want to tell him how you feel.
Her: Yes. I hate hiding things from him.
Him: You do it pretty often to me...
Her: Your not my childhood friend.
Him: But I'm your midnight friend!
Her: Luke, please. Give me some advice.
Him: I think you shouldn't tell him.
Her: Why not?
Him: Friendship is better than nothing. And would you really be willing to risk your friendship over a relationship that most likely isn't going to happen?
Her: ...
Him: Mysty?
Her: Who the hell is Mysty?
Him: I was thinking, you're like a mystery. But mystery is just way to long for my lazy ass voice to say so I shortened it to Mysty.
Her: I guess I'll always be Mysty to you then.
Him: You don't have to be.
Her: Yes I do. Anyways, I think I'm going to listen to you.
Him: Really?
Her: You've given the most reasonable and realistic advice.
Him: There were other's? I'm insulted.
Her: Haha glad I could insult you, Luke.
Him: It's a great honor. You know we've been talking for a really long time.
Her: True. I should go.
Him: Wait! That's not what I meant!
Her: Well I meant what I said. I should go.
Him: Ok...
Her: Bye midnight friend.
Him: I knew it'd catch on!
Her: ...
Him: Bye midnight mystery.
Her: ...
He hangs up.
