chapter 26:

abbey's POV

"h-hello?" I stuttered.

"Abbey? are you okay? what's wrong?"

"I'm fine."

"look, Abbey. I know you're in Indiana but I was visiting my family & I can come get you."

"Matt you don't have to."

"no I'll be there soon... and you can tell me what happened." Matt said.

I haven't heard from Matt in like a week... after... well all that happened...

I decided to walk around with Ry for a little while until Matt came. he showed up like 20 minutes later.

"Matt how were you in Indiana? your family lives in Virginia..."

"I had to come see you." he replied putting Ry in the extra car seat in his car.

"I'm sorry Matt."

"for what?"

"for everything... I'm just in such a horrible state right now, I should've just went to college." I sighed.

"it's alright Abbey. I fucked up just as much as you did. but who cares, let's just go home."

I nodded and let my head fall back into the seat. we started driving and I turned on the radio to try to clear all the thoughts rushing through my mind.

it wasn't working.

I tried to close my eyes & fall asleep but nothing. I had absolutely no energy. I just wanted to cry and scream. my head started pounding & my stomach turned.

"are you okay, Abbey?" Matt asked. I shook my head. "let's stop to get something to eat." I nodded. we pulled into a nearby restaurant and went inside. I couldn't even eat. "Abbey you have to eat something come on."

"I can't I'm not hungry."

Matt sighed. "alright." he fed Ryleigh & ate, then we were back on the road.

alright 3 hours down only 30 more.
this time when I tried to sleep it actually worked, I was slowly drifting to sleep when Taylor entered my mind.

"Abbey, I love you stay strong baby." his voice echoed throughout my
mind.

what? stay strong? I quickly woke up
which must've scared Matt. "Jesus Abbey what happened?!"

"n-nothing." I sat up and looked over at Ry who was wide awake playing with her stuffed animal. "let's stop so I can change her diaper then I'll drive." Matt nodded and pulled into the nearest gas station.

"come on baby let's change your diaper!"

"mama"

"yesss baby?"

"daddy." Ryleigh pointed at Matt... awkward.

I laughed. "that's not your daddy silly! daddy's in Indiana at gramma and grandpas house."

I brought Ry back to the car and started driving. "Abbey, I never asked, what happened with you & Taylor?"
"we broke up.."

"me & Nicole sorta did too.."

"I'm sorry." I sighed.

"me too." he replied before slowly drifting to sleep.

I was driving for about 2 more hours and it was slowly getting dark. the radio blocked out my thoughts as well as Matt's & Ry's snoring. I looked into the rear view mirror at a sleeping Ry, but next to her was... Taylor?

"what the fuck" I mumbled to myself before slamming on the brakes.

"are you okay?!?" Matt shot up.

I shook my head and turned around, nothing. was I hallucinating? why won't Taylor leave my mind?!

"I think I'll drive now..." Matt giggled & we traded seats.

what the hell is going on?
