Bear's POV:
"Where is the baby?" Rin's voice shrieked in my ear as she looked around petulantly. Lily was the only one here besides Mïka that Rin ever really got along with. Probably because Rin was not the gentlest of people to work alongside.
"On the mattress behind the curtain; check for yourself," Savannah replied in return. Vannah's eyes were closed, but I knew better than to think that she was not watching. In fact, since moms death, she had been closing her eyes a lot more, as if it helped her to focus better. I knew from experience that it made no difference with her.
Rin made a face at Savannah before walking over towards the curtain herself. She opened the curtain to reveal the large bunk beds. Seated on the lower bunk sat Katelyn's sobbing father as he rocked the baby back and father. He looked up at Rin and wiped away his sloppy tears before offering the girl a pitiful half smile.
"We are at the Spêtsïalen base," Mïka said as Savannah took control of the controls once more. Savannah returned Cara to its natural form before turning it visible and properly landing it. A sizeable group of wide eyes people collected in a wary circle surrounding Cara. Katelyn's dad handed the baby over to Savannah who allowed her hair to stop flowing in the quickly done braid. I picked up Katelyn as gently as I could while the door to Cara slid open.
"Mïka did you at least instruct them of standard base protocol?" An exasperated man with glowing amber eyes demanded. A distinctive rainbow spiral flashed in the eyes of each of the eyes surrounding. The spiral I had come to realize signified that we all shared the powers. Mïka suddenly held his head in a submissive format.
"No high council leader," Mïka replied with his chin pressed so tight against his shoulder that it must surely hurt. The glowing amber-eyed man brought his hand up and began swinging it towards Mïka's face. His hand was stopped mid swing and the amber-eyed man seemed to pause in hesitation.
"You have no right to slap him because we did not listen to him sooner; regardless, we have a dying human, and we are inclined to believe that you can help us." Savannah fumed while her braid started to wave and float again. Her eyes were the brightest I have ever seen them as the amber-eyed man seemed to notice her for the first time. His shaggy black hair seemed to stand straighter as he marched up to my sister. The man looked her in the eyes before looking down at the baby.
"You brought a zilíqär among us!" The man shrieked while pointing at Lily. Mïka looked up in shock and tilted his head towards my sisters before frowning. Rin watched with interest as Savannah telekinetically passed the infant to her.
"That zilíqär is my baby sister, and if you do not start acting like an adult, then she is going to die!" Savannah spat back at the high council leader. A collective gasp was heard from the people surrounding us. Clearly, this sort of behaviour was irregular. The man looked around and each of their heads bowed in sync including Rin's and Mïka's. Rin surprised me considering this went against her naturally challenging behaviour.
"Follow me." A feminine voice spoke through my head. I looked through the crowd to see a tall woman with a large multicolour hand of sorts on her arm. She indicated for us to follow as the amber-eyed buffoon watched in exasperation.
"I hate that fat doctor," Rin whispered in Mïka's ear earning a solid elbow to the stomach in response. Savannah turned away and pushed the buttons that turned Cara into a backpack once more. Faces watched in awe as they parted for our small group. They mumbled lowly amongst themselves as we entered the base.
We were guided down various corridors before several other people with the multicoloured hand showed up. We appeared to be inside a hospital of sorts, and by the way, Savannah tensed this was increasingly clear. The younger siblings and I had not been inside of a hospital before, but before living in hiding had become a full-time job our dad had worked with one himself.
Savannah has only ever gone to the hospital once, but that one time had resulted in a bunch of strangers showing up at our door to kidnap us in the night. If we had of not been out of the house at the time it was quite clear that we would have been taken. I can still remember the vivid trill of fear that had rippled down my spine at the sight of those people moving around inside our home.
Dad was back there now in allegiance with those same people that had killed mom and taken Cameron. I glanced back at Clark as some doctors came to take Katelyn away. Clark did not behave like someone who had their twin torn away from them. I felt a light tap on my arm as a short, male nurse indicated for me to set Katelyn down on a stretcher. Many of the doctors and nurses grimaced as they saw the extent of her wounds.
"We'll do the best that we can, all of you can attend orientation for the base while she recovers." The doctor that had brought us here spoke lightly as though the death glares from Rin were a painful reminder. Mïka nodded and began to walk in purposeful strides. Rin followed with her face set into an ineffective scowl as her eyes never left the doctors. Mïka paused to look back at us in confusion.
"Well, are you coming?"Mïka asked with an almost puppy-like tilt to his head. Budgie huffed at the poor imitation. The doctor jumped away in fear that the animal would kill her.
"We may as well." Savannah drew out the syllables in exasperation. She took a graceful step forward and allowed for Mïka to take the lead.
