Bear's POV:

"Do this for Savannah, for Katelyn." The council member told Katelyn's father. In his hands were the keys to a new life and my baby sister. I listened from the cell opposite to Katelyn's father as they told him exactly what they wanted him to do.

"What do you think about this plan?" Katelyn's father asked as he looked over at me. I regarded everyone on the other side of the force field.

"We all get to go free to continue our power training?" I asked while standing up from the cot and walking towards the hallway. The clear shimmer was the only reminder of the unrelenting pain from trying to escape.

"Yes, your elemental bond should also bring back Katelyn, and then you can all begin your training together." The council member beamed while nodding vigorously.

"Savannah actually approves of this plan right?" I countered while leaning against the wall. I was careful not to touch the forcefield while I took in our surroundings. Clark rolled off the top bunk and came up beside me.

"Your sister has willingly agreed. We convinced her that this would be safer for those without powers. After all she wants nothing more than to ensure the safety of her family." The council member replied. His eyes never blinked as he returned my stare. Mïka and Rin appeared at the end of their cells at the prospect of being free.

"If Savannah agrees, then I do as well." I replied while looking Katelyn's father in the eyes. He half smiled at me as guards appeared to escort them away. My grey eyed baby sister waved her delicate hands towards the weapons that they held by their sides.

"Tell Katelyn that I loved her." The man murmured as the guards hooked their arms through his elbows.

"Only if you promise to take care of our baby sister." Clark murmured while putting his face closer to the force field then I dared to go. Katelyn's father nodded sadly as they dragged him down the hall. He disappeared down the corridor towards the exit to the compound.

"Now for the remainder of you we are going to go visit your matched elemental partner." The short council member ordered as he unlocked the forcefield release switch to the three remaining cells. Mïka was released first as the council member knew that he would be most obedient. Rin was released second, and she promptly took the opportunity to reclaim her book. She whispered a small rhyme and smiled even though the Kūbatsîz bracelet continued to limit her powers. Finally Clark and I were released and even the air in the hallway was fresher then the scent of Clark's stale farts. Clark and I shared a mutual look of agreement as though he were thinking the same thing.

We were guided down the halls to the infirmary where we were greeted by an eager doctor. I was not entirely impressed that she had taken and matched our blood to find out that we were a rare bonded group that could combine our powers. We were lead into a room surrounded by black panels. In the Center of the room lay Katelyn on a stretcher. Her unconscious face was pale with sickly red rings around her eyes.

"Just go put a hand on her arms or something." The doctor said as he looked around at the three of us. Our Kūbatsîz bracelets remained on as we stepped forward to approach our unconscious friend. A pit formed in the bottom of my stomach at the sight of Katelyn. All of her wounds were tended to, but her skin was a pale green. Every so often the colour changed to black or purple, but the sight of her was unsettling no matter what colour she was.

Mïka took a step towards her and I found myself racing to beat Mïka. I did not want Mïka to be too close to Katelyn, and I also wanted to be the first one to see her beautiful eyes sparkling back at me. I slowed as I neared her side and my steps became more uncertain as I reached towards her shoulder. Clark tapped her hand lightly while looking at me with a raised eyebrow. His face seemed inquisitive, as though he was currently processing a large amount of information.

Rin blinked and stretched as though touching Katelyn's leg were the most boring thing in the world. My fingers made contact with Katelyn's shoulder and I felt a familiar sensation pounding in my head. It was the feeling as though my powers were being torn from my body. I pulled my hand away and I felt as though I could suddenly control and channel where the powers were directed. I placed my hand back on Katelyn's shoulder, and where I had touched the skin grew healthy and spread throughout her body.

The power channeled back into our fingertips as her skin returned to its normal shade. We all collapsed against the ground breathing heavily. Bewilderment crosses our faces as we glanced at one another. The sound of someone choking brought us back to our senses, as Katelyn struggled weakly to sit up. I hastily stood up to assist her as bloody drool welled from her mouth.

Her smile was strained, but gracious as she struggled to climb off the bed. Clearly Katelyn still wasn't in the best condition. Clapping alerted us to the presence of the doctor as he regarded Katelyn with excitement. I felt the need to protect my weakened friend as the man drew closer.

"Don't take any more of her blood, do you not think she needs it all to recover?" I demanded as the doctor produced a syringe. Katelyn flinched and gripped my arm even tighter. The doctor hesitated for a moment before lowering his syringed hand.

"You need to calm down before I can do anything." The doctor replied while motioning towards my defensive posture around Katelyn. Clark watched me with a raised eyebrow as he kept his distance. Even Mïka and Rin had backed against the wall as if they were trying to get away from me. This surprised me greatly considering their usual nosy behaviour.

"What happened?" Katelyn asked with a cracking voice. She appeared to be growing stronger by the moment. Her skin was returning to its usual colour as she stretched in discomfort.

"You got stabbed!" Mïka replied with a little too much enthusiasm for my liking. Rin smacked him upside the head and scowled.

"Of course she remembers that you daft alien fool, she probably meant what happened for us to all arrive here!" Rin retorted. We all watched in shock as Rin yelled at the only person who accepted her unfriendly personality by his own free will.

"For once I agree with Rin..." Katelyn mumbled while absentmindedly rubbing her stomach where the knife had been. I sighed in exasperation as Mïka began apologizing for speaking.

"Can I just check to make sure that your friend won't die?" The doctor asked while stepping forward. Katelyn slid to the edge of the stretcher and slid off onto wobbly legs. She held my arm desperately to steady herself. Once she was certain that she would not collapse she dragged me over to the doctor for support.

"Please make it quick." Katelyn said as she held her arm out for the doctor to use the syringe.
