~(^-^~) Sky
Sky took a step out of her apartment building lobby. A rush of cold wind blew against her face. I was December in San Diego and the weather has been a bit bipolar lately. Yesterday was sunny and hot, now it feels as if it was about to rain.
Wow its pretty cold out.
She pulled out her phone, 6:00 am. It was pretty dark out. The street was lined with tall street lights. The street divider contained high green palm trees. A few cars whizzed by blinding Sky for a split second.
Where is today's destination?
Her days off usually didn't consist of anything too grand. But today she wanted to visit her favorite hide out. Today she wanted to go on an adventure, kind of.
After the whole date fiasco with Adrian this morning, I need to give my mind a slight reset.
Sky sighed and set off to find her place of peace. Turning left she started heading to a park that had a mini forest. Sky looked up and saw a bit of orange in the sky. Sun rises and sun sets were an amazing sight for Sky. She soaked up its beauty as she walked. A harsh breeze against her face and the sight of a sun rise seemed quite odd to Sky. You would notice the harsh blow of wind straight away, but as she looked past the fact it was cold, she saw the most beautiful thing.
That's life I guess, its bitter sweet.
As she walked Sky liked to stare at the ground. Finding the cracks as a sign of its use. The cracks were like battle scars about skateboards, dropped items, accidents, and construction work. She always felt that all sidewalks contain untold stories. Sky lifted her sleeve. Her fingers grazed a long, smooth, pale scar.
Not a battle scar, a scar of worthlessness. Dammit Sky, right now isn't the time to be reminiscing.
She pulled her sleeve down and crossed the street entering the park. The sun was now creating silhouettes as it made its way behind city buildings. Her feet made crunching noises as the pathway transitioned from concrete to gravel. Around her the grass field was green. Shining from the sun as it was scattered with morning dew. The field was dotted with picnic tables, cabanas, and public grills. Towards the back of the park it faded into a thick area where trees began to lead into a dark forest. The sky wasn't blue today. It was patched with dark grey clouds.
It raining today... Oh who cares, I haven't been here for a while.
Sky walked towards the trees, taking some pictures with her phone. She stopped and took a picture of a droplet of dew as it was about to detach from a blade of grass. She began to walk again until she met the wire fence. Sky scanned the area behind her to make sure no one was watching her. Then she jumped the fence and made her way towards the biggest tree in sight and took a hidden trail deeper into the trees. She was surrounded by tall trees, each branch, each root screaming the trees age. The mini forest was very fascinating. It was like nothing she has ever seen before. As she walked birds chirped their morning songs, putting her headphones on she played a Mayday Parade album on her phone.
She took in the nature around her and a rush of nostalgia hit her. When she first discovered this place she was a freshman in high school. One day Sky ran away, her parents broke some devastating news regarding their job and how they needed to go abroad. Sky was so mad, she thought that why should she start caring now? Her parents were never there for her anyways. As soon as Sky was old enough to learn to cook and do other chores, her parents began working overtime. She was basically alone at home, except for when Adrian came over after school and such. But she was tired of everything, she jumped over that wired fence and she has been coming here ever since. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard movement ahead of her. Following the trail she finally arrived to her destination. Two trees crossed as vines hung from its branches. Sky walked through the curtain of vines and smiled as it opened up to a small rocky pond with a small water fall. The air was still cold and the sky was a darker grey than before. But some how a few rays of light escaped through the thick clouds up above. The cascading trees created a thin canopy above the hidden grove. The rays of light went through the thin canopy lighting up the area. Sky stood there taking deep breaths. The water fall wasn't too loud and relaxed Sky as she made her way to the pond. There were few fishes and the pond went pretty deep down. She snapped a few more pictures and sat down in the rocky edge.
